Sean McDowell is retiring. He will be missed.

Sean McDowell more often than not caused me to tune out in the afternoon because I don't really need to know that the back-up drummer on the '73 tour was babysat by Jim Morrison's 3rd grade teacher. But it's impossible to deny that a ton of organizational and cultural knowledge is going out the door with him.

It was one of the few bright spots on da Fan when he would call in or visit the audios every week.

Bill Brink is going to be the sports business reporter for the PG. So I guess like Darren Rovell

Dunno who will work at the dumpster fire PG to take over the beat. Wonder if Molinari will go back on it. Have to think he’s close to retiring.

PDJ to the rescue. So how much of the 9 minutes of talk time per hour did he spend going on about this?

I saw Mikey from Kiss across my feed and he was getting credit for the change. So those two jackasses may have to fight it out for who loves Pittsburgh more. Only thing better than non stop Fan ad reads has to be Mikey screaming at the top of his lungs about the cheese at Kennywood. Just laugh out loud morning zaniness. :scared:

PJD Jr with another nearly dialysis tweet that he is a yinzer and from Pittsburgh: https://twitter.com/colin_Pittsburgh Dad Jr./status ... 96066?s=21

I don’t get what he is talking about. I guess I’m not on same yinzer level as him.

WTF? Most of the comments, even from his sycophants, are asking him what the hell he is talking about. I have literally never heard of this.

Yea, maybe someone with a fuss or hair lip would say it that way, but it is not a yinzerism

Collapsing/swallowing l’s and especially double ll’s — to the point where it’s a semi-W sound in extreme cases — is a linguistic characteristic I’ve noticed in western Pa. Ellen can become “eh-win” alley becomes “in the back ahwee”

This specific thing imo seems much more city proper and immediate neighboring townships and boroughs (like Sharpsburg and Etna) compared to the much more twangy stuff you get when you reach the second and third suburban rings

Philadelphians do this too but it’s different to my ears in that the L is almost entirely deleted

Impressive that three words get added to alley with a Pittsburgh accent

You're from the city, right? Did you have a yinzer accent when you were young? Neither of my parents were from Pgh so I didn't have much of one but one my brothers did and still does to a lesser extent.
