The backup is Jeff George Jr. Take that however you want.Is there really no option better than Pickett? Five yards passing.... Good lord.
Being a TE is somehow worse.Being a WR at Pitt is more worthless than being a WR at a service academy.
I like him. Big and physical.Pinnock is playing really well.

Pitt never fakes the jet sweep. Makes it really easy to key on and stop.

RAL was wide open in the center of the field at first down distance but KSP isn't good enough to do anything but stare down Ollison.

Herbie was right about that. Pickett missed the easy first down.

Second string offense makes it look easy.

I'll have more thoughts when I get back tonight or tomorrow. But.. guys. I'm afraid I've watched Kenneth Shane Pickett for 15 games and I am still unsure if he is good or not. That leads me to believe that he is in fact, not good.

I tend to agree. At the very least, the QB position should be an open competition next year.I'll have more thoughts when I get back tonight or tomorrow. But.. guys. Saw a couple of the salty nuggets on PL posting “Pickett = Tino” in a variety of forms. What an insult to Tino, who was not good but still managed to be light years better than KSP. I want to take back every terrible thing I said about the Stull’s and Tino’s that littered this program for years. Pickett has a bad arm and seems to have no clue what is going on, which is something else that should fall on top of the worthless OC/QB coach. I had a near stroke last night when “I wish DiNucci would have stayed” popped into my head. The line is going to be trash next year. Whoever is under center is going to need to be able to run.
Despite the score I thought the defense played well. They were burned on some big plays and the offense put them in some bad positions, but the guys I’ve thought looked promising looked good while the guys I’ve thought suck and have no business being on the field (Briggs, Idowu, Zeise, Folston) looked like waffle stomped poo.
Was also happy to see Hall hit 1000 yards for the first time in his career. Coaching staff somehow needed to use him more this season. Ollison doesn’t have his explosiveness and for all the talk about his “toughness”, QO is too often felled by arm tackles at the ankles or a stiff wind.

Herbstreit was very complimentary of our secondary, DL, and Reynolds on the broadcast.
I thought the D played well all things considered, definitely well enough to win with a decent offense.
21 of the points (really 28) are directly attributable to bad offensive plays and the first TD was a fluke.
Fowler is terribad, btw.
I'm pretty sure Ollison is hurt.
As good as DH and QO are, I think that is a position of strength for next year.

If we get Stanford in the Sun Bowl, 3-0 part 2 is a possibility

Paraphrasing here but Alan Saunders said the ACC is putting on some pressure to ensure that Pitt doesn’t drop out of Tier I. He has Pitt going to the Sun Bowl (Dec 31 vs Pac 12 team). He says it may depend on who goes to the Camping World Bowl. If Syracuse goes to CW, the Pinstripe may take Pitt. If NC State goes to CW, Pitt would likely go to the Sun Bowl.
I honestly don’t care...I just want a win. Give me whatever favorable matchup they can get.
I’m not salty over last night’s result much at all, outside of it completely reinforcing my hope that Watson is coaching elsewhere as soon as possible. I thought it went as expected with the bonus of the defense playing well for extended stretches, given the opponent. The passing game has handcuffed this team all year, even moreso as the defense got better as the year went on.
I agree with the above re: Pickett. At this point isn’t what we thought or hoped he would be. He can get better, but he needs a crap-ton of help with his footwork and reads, and he needs it quickly. They need to find someone, anyone who can f’ing pass-block, and they need to do that quickly. My hope there is that the younger players who couldn’t ascend the o-line depth chart this year failed to do so because of experience and not talent. If it’s the latter, we’re in a world of crap for a couple of years.

I heard California in the Sun, but I'll take Stanford.

Announcements will start trickling out at 3:00pm. Some stuff from Twitter:
Joe Giglio of the Raleigh News-Observer (I think it’s Raleigh) is projecting Cuse to Orlando, Virginia to the Belk, and then Miami, NC State and Pitt are a mix. He has Pitt to the Pinstripe with The U going to El Paso and NC State in Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl. Some speculation that if Pitt goes to the Pinstripe, they’d play MSU.
Brett McMurphy has Pitt in the Sun Bowl, possibly against Utah. I’ve also seen Pitt playing Cal in the Sun Bowl. Both of those teams play pretty solid defense.

Pitt starting out as an 8.5 point dog. The world thinks we’re trash.
