I heard a thump when braking and a little of a grinding sound just as I got home last night. I took off both front wheels expecting to see a cracked pad or a suspension issue. Driver's side was fine. Went to the passenger side and found that one of the caliper bolts was gone. Just gone. Backed itself out somehow.
That could have been bad.

2020 Jeep Gladiator:
And a potential replacement for my 2008 Odyssey, the 2019 Honda Passport (although we're probably going to wait a couple of model years so Honda can get the kinks out of a new model):
We looked at Pilots this summer, and we've owned a CR-V in the past. I thought the Pilot was too big and clunky looking, and the CR-V is too small (it was great with one toddler though). The Passport slots in between those two models, but comes with the 3.5L six cylinder engine.

Cars are getting to be like college. I read a comparison article the other day between the 2018 CR-V and RAV4, and both of them were damn near $38k. It's insane.

Yep. To get an equivalent Wrangler to the one I bought in 2013 brand new for just under $31K would cost $41-42K today. Insane.

The margin on a Silverado approaches $10k. The Ford trucks are not far behind. Was reading some interesting stuff about the 'big 3' not willing to play the high volume low margin game. They're going to be so **** when gas spikes again. This is mid-2000s all over again.

Sergio Marchionne knew this, so building a Wrangler pickup is a complete and total no-brainer. It'll also be wildly different from every other pickup currently on sale, which should help it further.
Marchionne said at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show that FCA expects to sell 100,000 examples of the pickup per year, and they'll be "expensive—intentionally so."

Wrangler Unlimiteds seem to be everywhere, all of a sudden. I can see three from window at my campus office right now. How in the hell are college students affording this and student loans? I know those don't belong to us poor faculty and staff.
I was stunned at how expensive two door Wranglers, I specced one out at over $30K with a cloth top. Absurd.

I priced one before I traded the 228 and yeah it's ridiculous. My budget was 25k, so my options were getting a 2015-17 with higher mileage or getting something as far back as a 2010-12 with lower (30k) mileage. In both of those cases, either the warranty was soon to expire or was already expired due to model year or mileage.
I'm still looking for a summer/weekend car and considered a Jeep. I kinda want to learn to turn a wrench on a car since I'd consider myself mechanically stupid and supposedly the older Jeeps are easy to work on, but most of those Jeeps are like the old 2002s that I'm trying to find. Either they're restored and expensive or rusted out and still expensive.

My grandfather had a Bronco and I've always wanted one, sort of in memory of him. Unfortunately the prices for models in decent condition are through the roof so I'll have to content myself with looking at photos of him standing beside his ride.

My Dad and I restored a '79 Bronco II when we lived on base in NC. By restored I mean he bought it in non-running condition and we nursed it back to drive-able, then he sold it so we could move to PA when he got out. It's the only Chevy I remember us working on.
