Yeah, he is certainly a danger to the company and worthy of a report to HR.

I'm not saying to never go to HR, I'm just saying don't expect them to look out for YOUR best interests. They're #1 priority is to protect the company.
Also, be prepared to sit in a meeting with HR, your supervisor, and Stan to openly discuss the issues.

IMO, HR departments have been moving away from that ‘sit here and discuss the issue with all parties present’ model. I know that certainly hasn’t been the case in the last two companies I worked for.

Yeah, that's not happening. Which is why I won't say anything.I'm not saying to never go to HR, I'm just saying don't expect them to look out for YOUR best interests. They're #1 priority is to protect the company.

So let me ask this, since I've never had one. What is the point of an exit interview with HR? Is it really to find out if there's potential for a lawsuit?

Exit interview is to find out what you think of the place unencumbered, what can be done better, what's annoying, what do we do well as a company and from a culture standpoint...I press people like it's a confessional, tell me your sins, our sins, my sins (if you were my direct report), what can I do better...the whole bit...

One of their purposes is to provide a outlet for feedback to see if there are things that can be addressed.

I 0% believe that HR does a damn thing with any sort of feedback in an exit interview.

Honestly, if you hadn't painted Stan as a complete dumbass I would hazard a guess that he's trying to embezzle money from the company, if he has that level of access. Paint himself as a bumbling fool, steal the money.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, would shock me at this point. That place is Twilight Zone.

I was just invited to a meeting to discuss the business impact of a new application at work for a project I'm on (with the incompetent PM). We don't even know the name of the software we're being asked about, let alone any details on what it contains or does, and have yet to even have a technical meeting on the product. Declined the meeting and stated these facts, and expect the PM to reply back shortly in a huff about why I'm being "difficult".

And if he's really good, execute it in a way that he could then pin it on the person who is first on to him...Paint himself as a bumbling fool, steal the money.

I saw on the elevator this morning that 51% of people surveyed haven't taken vacation in over one year. I'd be interested to see how that breaks down between reasons.

Even if you can't afford to go away for vacation, use that ish. Even if it is just to stay home and take a week off.

That's my personal belief. My wife grew up with no money, and didn't take her first real vacation until late into her teens. I think that played a role in her continuing that until she met me. I've got nearly 5 weeks, and take just about every day of those available every year.

Stan does the same, only while still at work, apparently.

This morning I came in and there's a banana peel on his desk, nasty and brown. He literally left a banana peel on his desk overnight. He also does stuff like leave an unopened yogurt on his desk for days at a time and then eats it at some point. So gross. So Stan.
