I think I’ve mentioned this before, but here was a church downtown that sold lunch to all comers. They made a really kick ass split pea soup. I think it was Presbyterian.

That “dining room” is an interesting setupmike and tonys and its still there and similarly straight out of 1987When I was about 16, I went to a good gyro place on Liberty (replete with hookers). That was also good.

We went to hofbrauhaus on Sunday. It's always delicious. Pretzels and beer cheese would certainly be part of my last meal.

At long last, my wife and I went to Seasons 52 in King of Prussia last night with all the gift cards we've gotten over the last couple of years. It was quite good

I’m sure someone will name a place I’ve never heard of, but Burgartory and BRGR are always solid choices IMO. I’m sure the steak burger at Gaucho is great, but if I’m going to Gaucho that doesn’t fall anywhere within my realm of consideration.Best burger downtown?

Yeah. I was looking for a burger after the auto show. We ended up heading back to the east side to Burgatory. Can't go wrong there. Plus I got a s'more milkshake.I’m sure someone will name a place I’ve never heard of, but Burgartory and BRGR are always solid choices IMO. I like Wingharts, personally.

I was unimpressed with Wingharts. The sides were great but the burger was so-so. Conversely, the burger at Burgatory is great but the sides are garbage.I like Wingharts, personally.
Tessaro's is one that always comes up and I hated it. It tasted like any burger I could cook on my grill AND they didn't even serve fries? I'm sorry I thought this was America.

Quest for the Best Burger in Pittsburgh

Many of the scores on the site are based on a single person/review, so of course YMMV. But the ratings do square with the comments above (i.e., Bar Marco good, Tessaro's bad).

Tessaro's used to be good. But I haven't eaten there in years. Apparently the quality has gone downhill.

Thanks for the link. I'm surprised to see Hough's on the "Best Burgers" list. I really love Hough's as it's local, the food is good, and the beer selection is awesome. I've had the burger many times and while it's very good, I still prefer Burgatory or BRGR. Though to be fair, I've never had the "Cowboy Mike Burger." Burgers should never be on Texas Toast.Quest for the Best Burger in Pittsburgh

Also, The Yard is **** terrible.

All American Grill at ENP is their best burger and it's on texas toast.
Take that for what it's worth.

Our Daily Bread! and yeah it was in the basement of Presbyterian on Sixth Ave.
I loved eating lunch Our Daily Bread. My co-worker and I probably ate there two or three times a week. Good food and good prices. My co-worker and I got everyone on our team eating lunch there. Before us they never heard of it. Chef Michael (who ran it) was a good guy.
Sadly the church kicked them out about four years ago: http://www.post-gazette.com/opinion/bri ... 1411130190
I couldn't believe a church of all places would kick them out.
"Rev. Tom Hall, 62, the pastor, envisions a place more like Panera Bread and less like a grade-school cafeteria."
I haven't worked Downtown in three years ago so I don't know what opened in its place. But I doubt its a Panera like place unless I'm wrong?
Restaurant Recommendations
It definitely had that grade school cafeteria feel.

The decision to go to a Panera always starts the same way: "Well, there's a Panera. I guess I can eat that."
