Looks like eastern PA/NJ has a good chance of getting our first measurable snowfall of the season this weekend. Need this system to keep nudging west, right now coastal NJ is in line for the most of the white stuff.

5 freeway closed near Magic Mountain. The winds are 45 - 55 MPH along the foothills. Temps are in the low 70's, but the Santa Ana's have dropped the humidity to single digits. They are having problems getting the planes over the areas of the fires because of the high winds. Sad to see houses burn during the holiday season.
Weather Thread
I just heard the Ventura fire is 0% contained and growing at a rate of a football field a second. Which seems kind of improbable.
Weather Thread
It's been reported that the wind is so strong along the hills that lit embers are blowing as far as 3 miles downwind.

We have reached our earliest sunset of the year...it will hold fast for about a week, and then begin slowly moving later in about a week's time. By the end of the month, the sunsets will be ten minutes later than where they are now. Of course, we haven't reached our shortest day yet...but since most of us view darkness through the sunset lens, a silver lining

Whoa, one of our forecasts has a 40% chance of snow showers/flurries Saturday morning - during the town Christmas parade.
The highlight of said parade is when one of the local septic tank company's pumper trucks drives the route festooned with a ridiculous amount of lights. Plus, they illuminate their slogan: We're #1 in #2.

Does the septic truck stop at the dollar stores?

This is an interesting early season storm. The way it is tracking, it looks like there could be some impressive December snowfall across Georgia and parts of the mid-Atlantic. Basically it's the GFS/EURO versus the rest of the modeling. Going to be a sharp cutoff for NJ/eastern PA. QPF (total precip) way up in the air too. But yes, the setup is favoring inland VA/NC/SC.Whoa, one of our forecasts has a 40% chance of snow showers/flurries Saturday morning - during the town Christmas parade.

There are some sick puppies on Twitter. I don't pity Murdoch at all, but amazing how many people openly take pleasure in the misfortune of others.
