Awesome. The World of Outlaws has always had an appeal to me...I think I need to make a trip up to Port Royal at some point.Spent the evening at Lernerville, 4/10mi dirt oval. Crazy stuff, not for me as it's so intense for so long. Crazy to watch though.
Someone I know is interested in maybe having me drive an Enduro car for him. I would absolutely do that.

Ambulances on pit road, The King is pissed, Danica is unemployed, and nobody really cares.

A handshake is a handshake.... except when it isn't.
It's nice they didn't miss words but RPM did put their name in victory lane once.

Yes, I rarely watch NASCAR anymore. But the fact that Dale Jr. is retiring has me really sad, for some reason. I guess it's just hard to believe that the 27 year old kid that won at Daytona four months after his father died is now leaving the sport. I think it's also partially another part of the NASCAR that I love being dead and gone. Tony Stewart retiring....Jeff Gordon...etc. I loved NASCAR and didn't miss a race in the early 2000s, and that era couldn't be further gone. The new "young guns" or whatever do nothing for me.

Was that Junior's only win?

@shafnutz05 is funny in a way to see Denny Hamlin, a Virginian, booed so much at one of his "home" tracks. Then TV interviewed Chase Elliott and you would have thought he was Dale Jr.
It's not the first bonehead move Hamlin has made at a Virginia track. He once led 380 of the first 381 laps at Richmond before he had a tire going down, and instead of pitting, he stayed on the track, causing a yellow. Dale Jr was the leader and would have run away with it at that late point. So Hamlin stops on the track, draws a yellow, and Kyle Busch spins Jr after a restart, allowing Clint Bowyer to sneak by while Busch had lifted. Whole scenario avoided if Hamlin takes his lumps and pits.
Kind of why I wasn't sad when Hamlin himself got wrecked after that last night.
(My watching was by DVR after the fact of course... annoyed that Hamlin's teammate benefitted from Hamlin's act though. Elliott is about to break out, kind of like Kyle Larson had those slew of runner-up finishes before he won. Only question may be can he do it while he is still in the 24, as he shifts to the 9 next season as William Byron comes aboard the 24.

Good for Truex, solid enough to win the 36 race format or the 1 race.
Especially cool for all the heartaches behind the scenes

Also nice to see someone not in a major stable (though I guess Furniture Row is major stable) win.

FR Racing is a one-car stable...it most definitely is not a major stable. Very happy for Truex. Also nice to see someone not in a major stable (though I guess Furniture Row is major stable) win.
Regarding Junior's retirement celebration on pit road, apparently he went out of his way to make Kenseth a part of it. Kenseth, a great driver who is out of a ride next year, isn't really leaving on his terms. They wanted the 88 to do a backwards lap for the fans, and he asked them if Kenseth could go around as well. He's a class act and Brian France doesn't deserve him.

Evidently Matt Kenseth was snubbed by NBC as well.

The only tracks worth a crap that the Cup series isn't already at are road courses, Iowa and maybe Gateway. None of the short tracks have the facilities to welcome the travelling circus. The race track business is as bad as the race team business. The overhead is great enough that unless you know you're hosting a race there's no point in building one.
The only oval built in the last 20 years (which is a time NASCAR peaked in popularity) that wasn't owned by ISC or SMI is Iowa, and Rusty built it knowing that his name would get him on Nascar's schedules.

Traveling circus should be easy to accommodate since the stands are pretty much empty.

Ha. Ha.
They've grown too big for their britches. It wouldn't surprise me if affiliated personnel outnumber spectators for every session except the race.

I already have tickets for our local dirt track (Cherokee Speedway) and am already planning on attending the asphalt track in Hickory, NC and dirt in Gastonia, NC.
