Yep, they are a variety of 'hardy hibiscus'. We've had a few other varieties for 10+ years.we were doing some shopping at best feeds and saw an interesting hibiscus - midnight marvel. purple foliage and red blossoms. are these winter hearty? it says on the label it should be good but i always think of hibiscus as a florida plant

No. We have some pink flowered ones. The ones we have grow 3' - 4' tall, with flowers up to 12" across. They die back to the ground every winter, and send up new growth in the spring.

Who can recommend me a solid AWD Lawnmower? All of these things are practically poorly reviewed across all websites.
My 3-year-old Husqvarna bit the dust, and while I'm tempted to try something new, they all so badly reviewed that I'm just going to buy another one that died because I know what I'm getting from it.

Do you need an AWD lawnmower? My cousin has an AWD Husqvarna, and can't really see any benefit to it unless you have to push up a steep incline. I used to be a Craftsman/B&S guy, but I'm 1000% in the Honda camp now. My Honda HRX2175VKA is the best mower that I've ever owned, by leaps and bounds.Who can recommend me a solid AWD Lawnmower? So I had an AWD Husqvarna, I ended up buying a RWD Honda. I like it, but the difference in how much energy I need to exert is real.

If it's a newer Honda, just crank up the self-propelled speed. Mine will jog if I need it to.

To assist with my property maintenance duties I used my Lowe's gift cards on a Husqvarna 435 chain saw. It cuts through the hickory wood like buttah

Is it battery or corded? I'm in the market for one.Bought a new Black and Decker electric string trimmer and it's as strong as any gas-powered one I've owned. Got it at Lowe's for only $49. Works great. Also has an edger which really does well.

Corded. Our lot is not that big so no need to be more than 100' from the house.

I have a 20v Li-Ion Black & Decker trimmer that works very well. Bought it as a package with a blower, quick charger, and two batteries. If you don't have acres of land to trim, it's damn near perfect.

I use cordless a Ryobi weed eater and leaf blower. Works great for the little trimming and clearing I have to do, and the leaf blower has an option for using an extension cord for the bigger jobs.

It was expensive, but best trimmer I've ever used by a long shot:
Honda 35cc 4 cycle. This thing is a monster. With some heavy duty Stihl trimmer line, it will go through just about anything. Edges as good as a metal blade - it will cut trenches in heavy clay soil like butter. I've had it for several years and it still starts on 1 or 2 pulls every time. No mixing fuel, and much smoother, quieter and cleaner than a 2 cycle. It's a little heavy, but not so heavy that Mrs K can't still use it.

I used mine to take down a large swath of 5ft high brush. Absolutely not it's intended purpose but it exceeded expectations.I have a 20v Li-Ion Black & Decker trimmer that works very well. Only complaint is the length, I wish it was about 6 to 8 inches longer.
Heh.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me at all. This thing tears through just about anything, and I use it weekly to edge the entire yard, as well.I used mine to take down a large swath of 5ft high brush. It came with a strap, but it's really not heavy enough for me to bother with it. It's nice for when Mrs K wants to use it though.Consider a harness, heaven for stuff like that.It was expensive, but best trimmer I've ever used by a long shot:

I would like a trimmer/edger where I don't spend a 1:1 ratio of time edging/weed eating to fixing the string feed mechanism.

The last time I had to do that was when I had a gas trimmer. Auto-spool on the 20v is perfect.

i had been having trouble with my dahlias. they were turning brown, everything else in the planter was doing well. i sprayed it with some mold killer that helped but then it returned. moved them in to more direct sun. they have probably quintupled in size, have out competed everything else but will not bloom. my other flowers are not blooming any more since the dahlias have become so large.
i also have a dahlia behind our house (different varietal) that is blooming like crazy but has bad leaves.
shrug

It's really not specific to gas trimmers, I put a speed feed head on my gas trimmer and it's easy as cake to reload. The last time I had to do that was when I had a gas trimmer. Auto-spool on the 20v is perfect.
