Safe opened lol. The existing combination worked. I can only guess I have a faulty sensor or keypad. I won't be shutting the door.

As someone who works and is trained in the locksmithing and safe industry; I recommend a dial lock next time. Batteries can't die if there are none, and with a little know-how, you can still get in if the wheel pack starts to wear out.
Edit: I know the batteries weren't dead, but worn out keypads are just as bad, if not worse.

Yeah, I wanted the dial lock but they weren't in my price point at the time. Now that it's open - can I convert to a dial lock?As someone who works and is trained in the locksmithing and safe industry; I recommend a dial lock next time. Without knowing anything about the model/style/prep, I couldn't say. Wouldn't hurt to check with a safe technician at some point, though.

I have a Cannon safe with what they call their "EMP" lock. It has both an electronic keypad and a mechanical dial, so if the electronics die you can still manually enter the combination on the dial.

I asked my boss (a pro safe cracker) and he said if it's a standard safe (Liberty or Fireking) changing to a dial is simple.Yeah, I wanted the dial lock but they weren't in my price point at the time. Waffles is a DBA. Must've crossed a wire.
My bad. We've discussed proximity readers before so I should have known.

NBD. Haven't seen waffles in a while. He must not be very psyched for this year's playoffs.

It's a winchester 24 gun from tractor supply. It only cost about $700. It's protecting about $2500 worth of guns (the cash is in there because we're paying the house builder more tomorrow). So if it's like a hundred bucks I'd do it.I asked my boss (a pro safe cracker) and he said if it's a standard safe (Liberty or Fireking) changing to a dial is simple.Yeah, I wanted the dial lock but they weren't in my price point at the time. Ended up buying a Springfield Armory M1A this weekend, absolutely can not wait to shoot it. It's been my dream rifle, since forever.

Nice. Standard, or one of the fancy pants variants?
All Things Guns & Ammo
Standard. It was expensive enough, and I don't have a 500-1k yard range to go shoot at. I do plan on buying a nice scope for it here in the near future.Nice. Standard, or one of the fancy pants variants?

Bought a new Kahr T9 through Bud's Gun Shop (http://www.budsgunshop.com). I ran across Bud's because they sponsor a number of YouTube gun guys like Hickok45. The price from Bud's was reasonable, and they have a network of local FFLs that have all agreed to process transfers in advance. You just shop online, pick what FFL you want to collect the gun from, and then go pay the transfer fee and fill out the paperwork when it comes in. I went with Grant Montgomery, an FFL that operates out of his home in the North Hills near Thompson Run Road. The transfer was just $20. If you're in the area and need a FFL to process transfers, look him up.

I just started following Hickok45's channel a couple months ago. Didn't realize the guy is apparently a human giant.

Bud's is a good store.

Hit the range this afternoon. Thanks to the fairly heavy rain I couldn't do any ammo chronographing, so I wan't there too long, but I did put a hundred rounds through the new Kahr T9. As I expected for an all-steel 9mm, it's very comfortable to shoot. I was having an occasional failure for the slide to lock back after the last round, but that might be insufficient oomph in my reloads. Kahr also cautions to consider the first 200 rounds to be a break-in period, and it was locking back more regularly at the end of the shooting session. I also noticed that the magazines take a good whack to seat properly, so it might have been that too.
I was also testing another new piece of equipment. I've been using the same set of Winchester-branded passive hearing muffs for something like the past 15 years. I decided to get with the times and pick up a pair of the new-for-2017 Peltor Sport Tactical 500 electronic muffs. I really like these muffs. The noise protection is as good as my old muffs, the electronic amplification does a great job of letting you hear otherwise, they fit on my big melon even over a baseball cap (much better fit than my old ones), and the 500s have Bluetooth so you can pair them to your phone or music player. I was at the range during most of Sunday's Penguins game, and with the Bluetooth connection and the iHeartRadio app on my phone I was listening to the game the entire time I was shooting. If anyone else needs a new set of ears, Graf's has the Tactical 500 on sale right now for $120, which is around $20-$30 less than I see them going for other places.

That training is ridiculous.

Those guys are crazy. I don't care how skilled an "operator" someone may be; there is no way I would ever be willing to have anyone fire shots at a target right next to my head, let alone have someone shoot an armor plate on my chest.
In an act of stupidity I managed to break the plastic connecting rod on my Lee Auto-Drum Powder Measure. I go online to order a couple replacements, and when I added them to the cart it pops up that the price was zero; all I had to do was pay for the shipping envelope. Lee has good customer service, and I've been very happy with my Lee Classic Turret Press.

The magazines for my new Kahr T9 are on the stiff side and were hurting my thumb (especially on the last round), so based on some reviews I saw I decided to pick up a UpLULA magazine loader. Since I knew I would be loading a lot of single-stack mags, I also bought a pack of the aligner insert that optionally snaps into the bottom. It came in today, and I pulled out a bunch of mags and ammo to test it out. Holy crap why didn't I buy one of these before. With the aligner in place it works perfectly on my single-stack Kahr mags, and with it out it worked great on SIG and Browning double-stack mags. I used a stopwatch to time myself loading a 17-round 9mm magazine. Loading with the UpLULA took me 30 seconds. Loading by hand took 45 seconds, and much of the extra 15 seconds was me really pressing with my thumb (scraping it slightly in the process) to get the last couple rounds in place. Faster and easier with UpLULA. It's not cheap at around $30, but it seems well made. I'm going to order a second one.

I have a hankering to buy a Browning T-Bolt with the maple stock option. T-Bolts are available in .22 LR, .22 Mag., and .17 HMR. I already a couple .22 LR rifles, so I'm thinking of either the .22 Mag. or the .17 HMR. I probably won't do much with this rifle beyond punching paper or maybe disposing of groundhogs at my mother's house, which wouldn't be at distances of more than maybe 50 yards. It seems like there isn't much difference in price between .22 Mag. and .17 HMR ammo. Anyone have any input or opinions either way?
