Would be so cool to see some money go into the war memorial. I grew up in a not too well off family, and 2 hours away from Pittsburgh, so Pens games weren't really an option. Johnstown Chiefs games were my absolute favorite thing to do. I'd beg and beg and beg until my dad couldn't take it anymore and he'd take me to a game.

At the very least, the War Memorial should be getting $40k in upgrades for being a semi-finalist.
If they make it to the finals, that number would go up to $75k.
I'm kinda curious how they would spend that money. I know the current scoreboard has been in place since 1990 and has sections that appear to be burned out. The cooling system I remember hearing was a fairly recent upgrade, like mid 2000s before the Chiefs were relocated.

I think the Slapshot factor is working in Johnstown's favor.

I was always bummed that I didn't stick with hockey long enough to play there in high school. Had to play at Golden Mile over and over, but never made it to War Memorial. Boo.

It's great to have the publicity but $75k seems like a drop in the bucket. It's costing me half that to remodel my kitchen.

Check out the video of one of the Hanson brothers (Slapshot) doing a promo. Good stuff

They plan to use it to springboard toward additional funding. Sort of a, "hey look, we already have 150k. Let jumpstart some more fundraising"The winner gets 150k. Runner up gets 75k.It's great to have the publicity but $75k seems like a drop in the bucket. It's costing me half that to remodel my kitchen.
