I assume they get to see what that pick becomes before making their decision? If it were top 5, I probably don't give that up. Outside top 10 is an easy decision.

They will get to see what pick they get before deciding. As long as they don't win the lotteries, I think that pick is coming to us.

Player polls are as worthless as fan polls but still, it’s nice to see the recognition even at 37

there’s a lot of bias in them. Similar to fan polls where fans will just vote for popular players rather than good players, players will vote for players they like or respect personally, especially based on reputation, but not so much actual play

I mean, between us, so we really think Sid is the “most complete player” in the year of our lord 2025? He’s still very very good but I thought his defense was tough at times this season. I think “smartest player” is completely reasonable but if you polled, say, coaches or media members, I don’t think Sid gets in the top five of “most complete player”

Like, I don't want to white knight for player polls by any means...but...man...

And no, Crosby was not good defensively this year. Just to say the words. It was easily his worst D season in the last handful...

Is that a comment on the quality of the draft class or a comment on the Rangers' prospects for next year?

Both. They thought it was gonna go a certain way this year and the bottom fell out. There have been an alarming number of players going public about the state of that team and the coaching there. I've gotten some inside info on what a circus it is in there too. You can't be sure it's going to turn around in time for a draft that can't be worse.

But, where I sit right now, there's like 2 or 3 players that I think are top 10 caliber type of picks.

I get that point of view but on a disaster of a season, I think giving up say the 10th pick overall isn’t gonna sit well with fans. Plus drury gonna be on the hot seat too.

I still think they give up the pick this year but I don’t think it’s quite a slam dunk

Certainly not a slam dunk. But, to be fair, it was asked if it was "safe to assume"...I don't think the fans want Drury to be the GM for this decision, but I don't think they'll get their wish there...

They'll get Lavi out, but I think with Drury they're gonna try to add some veteran help into the front office...

Murashov was re-assigned to Wheeling for the AHL playoffs. I'm guessing the Pens want both Murashov and Blomqvist to play meaningful games this spring. Makes sense.
