Cody Balmer, arrested for arson after allegedly setting Governor Josh Shapiro’s house on fire, was reportedly angry over the state auctioning his property. A court document from Harrisburg surfaced, linking the auction to Balmer’s motive.

Free speech in no way covers or justifies vandalism and property damage. Vandalizing someone else's Tesla because you don't like Elon Musk doesn't make you "anti-Nazi" or a freedom fighter or a defender of democracy or whatever else the people protesting outside of Tesla dealerships are yelling. It makes you a criminal and an dadhole.

Trashing someone's car because you don't like the owner of the company that made it is like me driving over to your house and throwing bricks through all of your windows because I'm pissed at the CEO of the Andersen Corporation or whoever else manufactured the windows in your house.

I think everyone here agrees: vandalism... arson... charge 'em, give them their day in court, and levy punishment accordingly. The fact that the Trump/Bondi/Musk dream team would like all of this to be raised to the level of "domestic terrorism" is what is drawing an eyebrow raise from a lot of folks.

For maga types it’s all just the cost of doing business. As long as federal jobs get cut and guns don’t get touched, the cost is worth it.
