the best subs are the ones that make fun of the stereotypical redditor, like this one in regards to your "edit": https://www.reddit.com/r/AwardSpeechEdits/Joegap wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 3:58 pm Reddit in general is terrible. It's just a competition to make the unfunniest joke imaginable. Also someone in the Steelers sub called a chargers fan a "bolts bro" and I almost threw my phone out the window
EDIT: Wow didnt think this would blow up. thanks for the upvotes kind strangers!!!

Reddit is still a solid source for information. For example, my MIL asked me to look up some e-bikes for her and I quickly found an e-bike subreddit along with at least 10-15 posts that had everything I needed including buyer's guides, reviews, and people asking the same questions my MIL was. That doesn't really exist anywhere else on the internet. At least not anywhere that's somewhat trustworthy.
I love the niche subreddits that are just overflowing with extremely knowledgeable and passionate people sharing information. If you just stick to the default subs, it's horrible. Sports subs tend to be horrible too. It's like anything else in the world, though. Find a little corner that you enjoy and stick to that.

yeah there's a little bit of a paradox...the larger a subreddit is, the more activity there will be, but the more it draws in stupid people/children/bots. r/pics is a good example of that. instead of posting pictures, it's just someone posting a photo of something related to politics and then the sub, which leans heavily left, just circlejerks around it
the smaller a sub, the better it will be as you'll get smarter conversation but they run the risk of low activity and people not caring about them

It’s much like Jason Mendoza’s scale of 1 to 13. 8 is the best and then you go back down.

I'm sitting in one right now. Wish I had started a count. At least 30 times in the first fifteen minutes, easy.nocera wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 2:44 pm People who overuse "right" when giving presentations. Wait. There is more on Reddit than porn? TIL
