Aircraft appears to be XA-UCI, a Learjet 55 owned by Mexican-based Jet Rescue, an air-ambulance and medical-transport company. The aircraft looks like it had just taken off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport on a flight to Springfield Branson National Airport, Missouri.

That is an extremely busy area, right along Roosevelt Boulevard. Reports from social media are really bad.

Monroeville Mall sells for $35mm to Walmart. The sellers bought it for $231mm in 2004.

We do have a walmart close by in North Versailles. There is not a need for one in Monroeville proper. We already have a Target, Giant Eagle, Sams Club, Aldi all within city limits.
I just hope that whoever bought the mall keeps it going. Growing up near by and now living in Monroeville...that has always been "my" mall. I still go there regularly just to walk around. The city needs to keep it open for the tax value if nothing else. It will never be like it was when I was growing up, but if it can get revitalized somewhat that would be awesome.

Keep in mind that a lot of large retailers have their own real estate development arms. Echo realty is owned by giant eagle and operates all sorts of random retail properties around tahn, many without giant iggles. So this doesn’t mean that wall mart will definitely end up in monroeville
Retail real estate is actually at an interesting crossroads right now. For 2 decades retail real estate has been viewed as a bad investment due to the inevitability of e commerce. But after two decades of disinvestment, there’s a shortage of quality retail properties left. So this might actually be a good opportunity to spend money and actually revitalize a moribund mall and surrounding area.

I saw a meme on Station Square getting turned into a Spirit Halloween/Christmas. Is it that bad now? We went there in June 2023 (I think I posted about it here) and ate lunch there, but I was surprised there wasn't much else going on down there. A crossfit gym and a few restaurants. I vaguely remember it having shops/stores, back in the late 80s when I lived there and during an early 2010s visit on our way to Toronto.

It’s horrible. What’s even left? Tupelo Honey (mid) and Grand Concourse?
