I understand he's a UFA, but you're in the WC1 and having Rantanen is better for competing this year than whatever you'd get in a trade.

I still don't understand why Colorado would do this. Neck Ass is good, but Rantanen is better, and you only have 1 more year on Neck Ass's deal before needing to re-up (and who knows what he asks for). Taking on Kotkaniemi too is... woof
