They’ve gone on record to say they won’t be asking anyone to waive trade protections.

I think Rakell's wife was pregnant so hopefully it's a "good" family reason

The game last night is an example of why I don’t fully buy the fire sale story, at least not yet. The team has a high ceiling but we’re a bit inconsistent. Ned made some big saves early and I think the team rallied behind him

I guess my hope that getting Jarry out of the locker room can help instill some confidence in the team. There’s a bit of a hill to climb still but I think the team can get it turned around

Yeah. They've been consistently blowing leads the entire season.

The Kings probably played their worst game of the season last night. First game home after a long road trip, the fires, all that noise...they weren't in it.

Yeah this team is not a bit inconsistent....they are a team who consistently blows leads when they do get them, and consistently fail to show up for periods at a time.

I mean we didn’t blow the lead yesterday or against the Oilers not too long ago

I'd be interested to see what their record would be if they hadn't had to deal with allowing a goal on the first shot for so many games. Being free from that will make a difference... not sure how much, but we'll see. That was so damaging, allowing a first shot goal, game after game.

In fact, I'd like to see what the record would be for each team that has won the Cup the last five years, if you go back and give the opposing team a goal on their first shot in 75 percent of the games. I would bet those 5 teams would have won exactly zero Cups.

Their record is better giving it up on the first shot than the last one...

I wonder if there’s a world where rakell and pettersson headline a package for JT. Given they were close on chytil/lindgren/1 the answer is probably no because I wouldn’t trade the 1.

Man, I just don't see it working out in the locker room with JT Miller. He's good, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure he'd be worth the headaches.

There were reports from his time in both Tampa and New York about him being a cancer, and there's been a ton of scuttlebutt lately about a rift between him and Elias Pettersson (as well as one between him and Horvat that led to Horvat requesting the trade out). It's not just the internet rumor mill either.

The content of the “article” is pretty funny just in how much they **** on the report from RG.
Dubas shuts down 'fire sale' inanity

An article by a Montreal-based writer on some website called "RG" reported that a "source close to the situation" informed him Kyle Dubas is planning a "fire sale," with the only untouchables being Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust, Phil Tomasino and Owen Pickering.

Despite the absurdity of the concept, and it coming from someone with no connection to the Penguins, the report got way more traction than it should have.

Dubas was asked on Josh Getzoff's 'GM Show' on the Penguins Radio Network about the potential for "serious movement" on the roster, and Dubas very clearly referenced the report in laughing off a "fire sale."

"We're trying to bring in younger NHL players, we're trying to bring in prospects, and we're trying to bring in draft picks, with the goal being to quickly develop those assets into people that can help the core group of the team here win one more time and then set the team up for the long range future," Dubas explained. "That's the goal, and that's our ambition, and that's what we're going to continue to do. We're not going to stray from that. But to say that it's a 'fire sale' (chuckles) and we're willing to retain money on very long-term deals? You know, I understand how that stuff starts to get out and take on a life of its own, but it's not accurate. And so we've had lots of conversations. But are we telling teams that everything must go? No, we're not."
I’m not sure how much I believe this report because they sound very salty here and there’s no inside info but who knows

The fire sale concept isn't really tenable or achievable here...clickbait.

The only part of that report I was OK with was the notion that, outside of 4 or so guys who are untouchable, anyone could be on the trade block. I never thought that Dubas would totally gut the team.

Regardless of how the season continues, I think Pettersson needs dealt.

I’d be cool with everybody potentially being on the block except Sid. Maybe we can finally make that Malkin for Kopitar (E5) deal happen.
