Pretty weak return for the 6th overall pick. But I didn't think he should have been picked that high to begin with.

Ok, it's actually Jiricek and a 5th for Hunt, 2025 1st, 2027 2nd, 2026 Colorado 3rd, and a 4th.

You know, my knee jerk reaction was "Is Minny even good enough to be trading away their first" based on the discourse around them at rhe beginning of the year.

Then I saw they were in a tentative 2nd in the Central. Maybe not a terrible move but that sure is a lot of picks. Hopefully more a Brandon Hagel than a Tanner Jeannot situation for them.

Yeah, I knew the Wild were humming this year...I didn't know it was quite that well. Spurgeon and Brodin have a lot of miles on them, so I guess this is insurance there. I don't think I thought Jiricek was even a first round pick caliber player, but I didn't immediately find my notes on him (as it keeps pulling up Adam Jiricek, who was drafted more recently).

So...I guess I should feel pretty neutral about this ultimately. I'm content there.

Brock Nelson on the USA team is surprising to me.

am I reading this right that Sid and EK65 are the only Pens participating?

I thought I might have been missing something, but between the three of them they are averaging a .900 save percentage and are ranked 28th, 29th, and 31st in save percentage.

That's not good.

Bedard being left out reminds me of Sid being excluded from the 06 Olympic team. Except, you know, not nearly as egregious.

Okay, Jacob Trouba:

Hearing Rangers do have several options, but Trouba can block with his partial no-trade. Rangers have indicated they will waive him if he does not accept one. One team is believed to be Columbus.

This is absolute hardball, but there is a precedent. In November 2005, Todd Marchant refused to waive his no-trade from Columbus to Anaheim as part of the Sergei Fedorov deal. So the Blue Jackets waived him, and the Ducks made the claim to "complete" the transaction.

We will see what the day brings
