Here is… something. I really love the graphic novel but it’s a piece of art, not a story. The same can be said about the movie. Zemeckis tries to add a plot and emotion but it comes off as unnatural as the deep fakes. I wish it went full on experimental film. Instead it never fully commits to either the experimental concept of the graphic novel or a full fledged narrative so you’re left with neither being particularly satisfying. And some of the additional subplots added for the film are downright wackadoo.

Wife and elder son saw Wicked and loved it. Our local theater (very small chain) had no trailers or commercials, and the film started right at the advertised time. Also signs on the door telling people to not sing

We're also going to Gladiator II: electric boogaloo tomorrow.

Gladiator 2
What a mess. The two big "twists" were about as well handled as Tristan Jerry. There were some awesome scenes, but yeesh was there a lot of incoherent stuff.

I had to read this post like six times before I remembered the title of the movie was "Here". I kept reading this as "Here is a point I wish to make. I really love the graphic novel as a concept." And I had no idea where Robert Zemeckis came into this.

It was quite a ride in my brain for like 11 seconds.

Dutch not being available for streaming is a travesty.

Man, I literally told my wife this earlier today when we had some time to kill before everyone came over. I thought I struck gold on Prime Video but it was some movie from 2021 with the same title. Was able to watch Planes, Trains and Automobiles, though.

Yeah, going to have to settle on falling asleep to PTA tonight. I bought a digital copy a few years ago.

Moana 2 was really good. Obviously the songs weren’t as good, but Auli’i Cravalho can really sing. Credit scene was fun, too.

Looking forward to the next one.

I've been watching PTA for about 30 years and I didn't know until last night it has a post-credit scene.

About the same time here, and I didn’t discover it until last year.

I also watched it last night and had no idea. We had the in-laws here last night and watched it with them. I haven’t heard either of them laugh as hard and loud as they did when Steve Martin gets “picked up by the testicles.” Just pure joy coming from them. Apparently my MIL had never seen it and my FIL hadn’t seen it since it was released. Ended up being a super fun screening with them losing their **** at every scene.

Gladiator II was unnecessary. Felt like Force Awakens, a loose remake of the original film. It was over the top and fun, kids liked it.

That’s surprising. I feel like Lilo & Stitch is a forgotten property, especially in the parks. Stitch’s Great Escape doesn’t count…
We went to a whole character breakfast centered around Lilo and Stitch. It’s akin to a cult classic with a large following.

Finally got around to watching Barbie. It was great. And parts were absolutely hilarious. It was heavy handed, but on purpose. Gosling was phenomenal.

I'd never heard of this film before seeing the trailer before Gladiator II: Electric Boogaloo the other day:

Evidently, they had issues securing distribution rights in the US because it's about white supremacists vs. the FBI. Looks really good though.

Already at 9.4k dislikes vs 5.7k likes. I'm sure the discussion around this movie will be completely civil.

She's half Polish and half Columbian. One known for white people and the other known for white powder. Good pick as lead.

It's fine. Probably my least favorite of the princess films. It's more interesting for its historic significance than the film itself.
