and tbh, I don't think FSG really gives a **** about the Pens staying in Pittsburgh. so we'll see but I'm not particularly hopeful about the future of the team
CNBC just released their valuations. Pens are 17th in the league in total value ($1.75B) and are pulling in like $218mm in revenue.
They're not going to move because attendance dips. They own the building, or at least arent being bent over backwards on the lease by the owners of the building like they were in Mellon Arena. THAT was the reason they almost moved, not because attendance was low. Mellon Arena owners pretty much took in all ticket and concessions revenue, except in the playoffs. Pens went bankrupt because they couldn't afford to pay back the owners due to the lack of revenue going into the Pens' pockets vs the arena's.

Eeeeh. The lease isn't up until 2040. I think we're good.
lol ok that's good
but yeah, I don't really have much faith in ownership
The Pens are an afterthought in the city as it stands right now. The Steelers are 8-2, you could get tickets last night like under 10$. The apathy has already started.
It's been a great run, but the last couple years was already the beginning of some tough times...and now we are about to enter those full on over the next couple of years.
I attended more games during the X Generation era than any other time period except the two seasons where I had season tickets. If there's a bright side to all of this, it's dirt cheap tickets will be available. Most nights, you'll probably see the Pens take a beating but every now and then, Morozov will score in OT and grab the Pens logo on his jersey while celebrating with the 11k fans in attendance.
Some of my best going to game memories were during that X generation time frame. Could just be nostalgia and simpler times, but cheap tickets made it a fun time.
pfft. Off Topic has about 700k more posts than the Penguins forum. As long as we can fight about politics or dodint about movies, people will be posting here.
