In that case we’ll trade for MacKinnon and hire coach Colby Armstrong.

Well... we're here... 20% into the season. The exact same issues from the past 2 seasons are still present: slow - and inconsistent - starts, inability to hold a lead, lack of energy, player regression (EK especially), and player complacency. This team also really seems to lack any defensive structure. I'm 100% on the "Fire Sully" wagon. All of these continuing issues show his time is up to me.JC2 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 1:04 am Honestly? I wanted him gone last year in addition to Hextall. They consistently had slow starts and couldn't close games. All that has continued. Unfortunately, it's too late now to fire him and expect anything to change...
Given his contract, I don't think he's getting fired. He's getting a new team assembled by Dubas for next season (and hopefully a new assistant for the powerplay), and they are going to give him another chance. I think I'm okay with that - this season is already lost, anyway. He's a good coach, and he lost the room for this season but perhaps he can get it back depending on the new players.
If this team is floundering and having the same issues 20% into next season, he needs to be fired immediately. Given the performance the past two years, he doesn't deserve another full season. I think the window is pretty much closed, but this team is also underperforming and that's on the coach. Just look at Edmonton this year... sometimes you just need a new voice in the locker room.
This roster clearly isn't among the best in the NHL, but it also isn't bad enough to just no-show games - NYR, CAR (game 1), EDM, and DAL - and have almost no resiliency in several others. That's on the coach. This team has enough talent to at least be competitive. Who'll replace him? I don't care. Bylsma was a nobody who won a cup. Sully was a barely-body who won 2 cups. New coach, please.

I don't think this team has the talent to do anything playoff-wise, so I want the Pens to lose, get more good draft picks, and rebuild. I don't see any reason to fire Sullivan because I don't see winning games as all that much of a priority at this point.

The tricky thing about drafting is...

Yeah, I agree, no guarantees. But I still don't think this team is going anywhere, so I certainly have no objections to blowing it up.
