Higgins then attempted to pass the SUV on the right and struck the Gaudreau brothers from behind, troopers said.

I think ultimately, accidents happen. And I am willing to acknowledge that.
But...
Driving culture in the US where we state "2 bicyclists killed in accident..."
Like, on one hand, i know this was not an intentional action to commit homicide, but....the complete disregard for the safety of both other vehicles and vulnerable road users is akin to waving a gun in a crowded room and shooting it off. At a certain point, there needs to be accountability and harsher penalties for these types of actions. I am glad to see that NJ seemingly takes that into consideration.

Lol. I posted my comment, re-read your comment, edited my comment, and none of it matters anyway because the board went insane.NTP66 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 10:36 amRefer to my reply to dodint above.Dickie Dunn wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 9:03 amDid you not finish reading?NTP66 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:49 amJohnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, were traveling north on County Route 551, close to the line on the side of the roadway.Which is it? **** drunk driver.
I’m not a 250-300 pound guy but I don’t understand people that have “five or six beers” and think it’s ok to drive.

It’s a drunk driver. I don’t think they had regard for anyone
that said, the lack of biking infrastructure is really frustrating

Don Waddell certainly must be. See Snyder, Dan and Heatley, Dany
For CBJ specifically, they lost Matiss Kivlenieks 3 years ago

So second degree seems like a slam dunk considering he willfully disobeyed safety rules of the road and his negligence was voluntary. But does this mean if he was under the influence he could get first degree?dodint wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 10:34 am I looked it up but couldn't post it earlier because of the database issues.
NJ has decently punitive penalties for vehicular manslaughter, with an enhanced sentence if you happen to be drunk.
5-10 years of prison time for second-degree.
10-30 years of prison time for first-degree, in the case of DUIs.
I don't know NJ criminal law but I assume there would be two charges and the sentences would run concurrently. I hope he gets the max given the egregiousness of the crime. Vehicular manslaughter sentencing has been a pet peeve of mine for a while, they're usually woefully inadequate slaps on the wrist. An extension of the relaxed driver culture in this country.

One of my friends, his wife and two gorgeous girls were hit by a drunk driver. All 4 were killed instantly. They were on their way to church for the girls 1st Communion.shoeshine boy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 11:13 am **** drunk driver.

I hate people who drink and drive. If I have something to drink, I stay at home. I hope this ******* gets to meet Bubba when he goes to jail.

It’s so incredibly easy to not drive drunk. There are so many options.

This Detroit Red Wings pick could be pretty annoying to play against down the line...sort of reminds me of young Kunitz...
EDIT: Also, it's not the best idea...but we just saw two 14th overall picks get exchanged for each other...we just saw the 2022 14th overall pick in the video I put in the Pens section. Here's basically the same draft slot in 2024. We can see who is further along on their respective development arcs pretty clearly...
