Well, that's about how the season should have finished.

I guess this answers that. Classy move by the Islanders there.

That might be the first classy thing I've seen the Islanders do in the last 20 years

Well...again, at least we got a month of fun...most teams hang it up in that situation.

Yeah. I'm a little bummed. More optimistic for next season than I would have been, however. We knew this was more than a 1 year fix.

"I'd trade Jarry straight across for another Puustinen" or "I'd trade Jarry for a 23 year old version of Lars Eller"

- Our prospect pool is deeper in the sense that Jeff Bezos just got a little bit richer. I'm sure it happened, but not in any meaningful way.

- A team taking on $10 million a year in contracts for the next 4+ years is extremely unlikely...it also means that we just give both players away (which is good in one instance, and bad is another, when you're giving away a top 10 goalie for free)...

"bottom 12 scoring winger", eh? I'll check my rolodex...
Jarry for a Bunting-type or a Peterson-type, then
All right, so looking the other way on contracts for a moment...you'd do Jarry for Vladislav Gavrikov in LA or Tyler Bertuzzi in Toronto then it sounds like.

I'm not sure if that's quite enough for me. I'd need to be assured that I could get a trustworthy goalie somewhere along the way...I think Jarry is worth more to us than that type of deal...but it's not outlandish...

I think it's easier to find another Pettersson than it is to find a goalie of Jarry's caliber...so I'm unlikely to use that asset to acquire that need...
I don’t necessarily disagree. I also don’t disagree that we were winning in the first half of the season because of Jarry…absolutely we were. But I would rather invest in skaters at the cost of weakening our goaltending unit because of how bountiful our goaltending unit is right now, in a way. I don’t think it’s a problem but our roster is absolutely a massive problem (missed playoffs 2 seasons in a row is dreadful) and we might need to borrow from the goaltending unit to improve the skating unit

But only if we can barter for the right deal. I’m not saying dump him to dump him but only if we get a very slick offer

Indeed it was. Carter has made it official...Link below, I didn't see it posted anywhere else, sorry if I missed it. It probably won't happen but, it wouldn't surprise me to see him in the Pens Front Office, maybe Player Development or some other Hockey Ops position.

I've mentioned it before but I loathe the idea that the simple act of playing hockey for a long time qualifies you for a front office or scouting position.
