If he covers downfield, then this just made the defense so much better

Queen is only 24 years old; he clearly took a step forward in a full season with Roquan Smith.

Definitely the best ILB in black and gold since Shazier.

This is the upside to having scrub QBs you don't have to pay.

We will win games 5-3

I mean good on Rudolph, but also surprising he thought 4 games or whatever would get him a starter role.

If holcombe comes back, that’s quite a trio.Definitely the best ILB in black and gold since Shazier.
I saw something that the team can get to over 50mm in cap space (before this signing).
Also key that the jaguars took their C in FA, if they could do something where they trade down and still get powers johnson, that would set things up nicely.
They are sort of handcuffing themselves to either of those top two centers in the draft with their first or second picks.

Holcomb almost certainly gonna be on the PUP list, maybe for the full season. His injury supposedly a possible career enderIf holcombe comes back, that’s quite a trio.Definitely the best ILB in black and gold since Shazier.

He actually could end up being cut

Okay, that’s fine.
Actually don’t really care since I’ve been thinking about it. Queen is an every down stud inside linebacker. I think there are like 10 of those guys in the league right now. Elandon is great as an early down base defense partner, so they just need like a specialty guy to add behind roberts as the dime/nickel guy.

I wonder if they will just look for one of the solid FA safeties who can play in the box on third downsOkay, that’s fine.

Eh...we'll see about Holcomb. Not having a timetable doesn't necessarily mean career-ending. We're still about 2 months from OTAs, which would be the first real indication that something may be worse than expected. He was injured in the beginning of November, so it was likely that they wouldn't have him to start the season regardless. It may be pretty accurate, but 'Devastating' is a word that gets the clicks more than it describes Holcomb's situation. I mean, Nick Chubb is supposedly coming back some time in 2024.
Signing Queen may be insurance (and great insurance at that), but I don't think it was a desperation move brought about by Holcomb's situation. I think it solidifies the position, and potentially turns one of the few weaknesses on D into a strength. It also means that they can push ILB back in the draft.
And maybe this is just me hoping. lol. I liked Holcomb's game when he was out there.

It solves the ILB problem until he gets hurt.
We had 3 good ILBs last year, but they all got hurt. It's just hard to have good depth. Hopefully they still grab a LB in the mid-late rounds.

WTF Queen. I thought he was like a 5 time pro bowl 29yo. Love it

Queen isn't so much the insurance policy as he is the one you get insured. If that makes sense...... he's better at football than Holcomb, how's that.
As I understand it, Holcomb's injury is still very much regarded as a career-threatening type thing.

Oh for sure, regarding the insurance comment and the quality of the 2 players. I meant it more as in 'our starting ILB may be out, so we better sign an ILB in FA' kind of way.Queen isn't so much the insurance policy as he is the one you get insured. The only thing I can find that mentions the injury as 'career-threatening' seems to come from Chris Mueller speculation ( ) because they signed Queen and Khan said 'no timetable for return.' Not saying it's not true, but that seems to be connecting dots that may or may not be forming a picture. Again, maybe I'm just hopeful. Dude's 27yrs old and plays a good game.

I'm also really warming to this Russell Wilson situation. Virtually risk free, and I honestly didn't realize that he had a bad year 2 years ago (first in Denver), but if you look at the last 4 years overall he's been a top 7-ish QB. And he's now a Steeler for $1.2MM.
