Mason had zero pocket presence. He didn't scramble, not because he was poised, but because he had negative awareness. It's why he fumbled multiple times vs Baltimore

He got hurt running for a TD at the goalline.Mason's pocket presence was on a different level from Pickett. It was one aspect where their differences in play were starkly visible, and one could be forgiven for thinking that perhaps the rest of it (success, however limited) flowed from that.I don’t remember it that way but I also don’t care enough to go back and look. In fact, I’m good if I never see another clip of the 2023 Steelers season.Kenny didn't spin and scramble like that in the one game he played without Canada, and wasn't doing it before he got hurt in the Cardinals game.
Also, didn't Kenny get hurt scrambling? (If not running around behind the LOS like a madman)

He left the game during a failed goalline effort.

Yeah the injury that ultimately ended his season was on a run trying for a TD but I have a memory of him getting injured turning into a sack as well. But again, and I cannot stress this enough, I do not want to go back and watch any clips from this season.

Don't look, nocera.
"Kenny Pickett injury" on Youtube sure does return a plethora of examples. This one from '23 looks like what I think you're talking about, kind of blindly scrambling right into pain:

Let us not forget that mason simply can’t move. When you are a hammer everything looks like a nail. When you are mason Rudolph, you have no choice but to live in the pocket because you have cement blocks attached to your legs.Mason had zero pocket presence. Exactly. It was the perfect storm in a good was for Mason. He played a line of teams who didn’t pressure him at all and the line started playing much betterLet us not forget that mason simply can’t move. When you are a hammer everything looks like a nail. If Mason wins the job, he’s probably gonna have a season ended by week 3 because he can’t move at all

Pretty sure the weather had everyone having trouble with ball security. If anything he stayed in the pocket and made plays.Mason had zero pocket presence. He didn't scramble, not because he was poised, but because he had negative awareness. It's why he fumbled multiple times vs Baltimore

Good topic on the SNR The Drive podcast. They ran through someone rankings of the 2023 draft classes based on production (so value of the pick not a factor).
Williamson and Lolly are like roster encyclopedias so the conversation flow is pretty incredible when they know every guy taken and know whether or not the guy actually played or made the roster. The Steelers were 10th. Lots of really good draft classes, definitely not a case to put the Steelers ahead of the Texans, Rams, or Lions. And probably behind the Seahawks and the Packers.

Crazy to think that too, you'd think that a Jones, JPJ, Benton, Herbig class is a great one. But some of these teams had tons of picks and knocked it out of the park even moreGood topic on the SNR The Drive podcast. It’s also basically impossible to make a case that porter, jones, Benton, and Washington combined outperformed guys like stroud, laporta, or puka. Just massive output from those guys, the steeler picks were all different sorts of producers

The thing about the Steelers picks is there is sooooo much upside there. Puka probably just had his best year of his career imoIt’s also basically impossible to make a case that porter, jones, Benton, and Washington combined outperformed guys like stroud, laporta, or puka. 100%. They got a starting CB, starting T, and starting DT, all potential stars at those positions. I recommend going back and looking at the discussions ahead of the last draft on the holes they needed to plug, and they just knocked them all off the list. The thing about the Steelers picks is there is sooooo much upside there. So overall team impact is huge, no offensive playmakers though, so they don't show up the same on the box score.

I’m curious where Canada goes from here. Probably go be a QB coach somewhere? Maybe back to college levels?

I’m only curious so I can monitor the train wreck of a team that would hire such a person.
