The Warning are really good IMO. Don't like their new song as much, but overall they write some pretty catchy rock tunes.

Hmm. I'd like to see Gov't Mule or even Gilmour do a Dark Side of the Moon show at that Sphere.

This is one of the better celebrity home tours for "do you actually live here" type material. It's actually a meme in the interior design world.

From the herb garden overrun with weeds (not weed..... weeds), to "I love limes", to the patio table to one can sit at, to the cat's burial site. It's just magnificent.

Jfc. I'd almost think it was a high-concept parody since all the comedy gold is so naturally presented. ("These are stairs......that lead to this" -- like, no one would actually write that if they were trying to be funny, it'd be way more over the top). Just brilliant.

I mean, I know it's 100% genuine and none of it is self-aware. It's just so hard to accept that that's the reality that my brain just veers into "Bit" territory.

edit: Upon re-watching certain bits now I'm like....is she in on it? Is she a deadpan genius? I mean obviously she's def never there, yes, but then comments about the limes like "I like to present them like this in my house." Almost everything in the kitchen she has no clue about. So I guess it's a combination of AD trying to make a not-lived-in home presentable, and her just like, subtlety going along with everything.

But then how would she know there are chairs you can't sit in? How much stuff is from AD and how much is her own? I'm in too deep.......

@tifosi77 No Grohl/Kurstin Hanukkah sessions this year? Or was the big live show they did last year a send off?

I'm reading Dave's memoir and he's just getting to the part where they left Washington state for LA to record Nevermind. Pretty cool stuff.

Oh, she 100% lives in the house. I have no doubt about that. But you know how people stage a house prior to listing it for sale? It's not the owner's actual furniture and decor and whatnot, just stuff to make the place look its best. That's what a lot of these AD tours are. Many of the celebrity owners have their places professionally designed, for just regular day-to-day. But when they do one of these tours, they often bring in the Big Guns and gussy the place up super extra fancy so they look that much more celebrity-like for the promotional thingy.

The patio no one can use, for example; it would not surprise me if that table set wasn't actually hers, and it was brought in for the shoot and the designer was like "no one can sit here", and Johnson just absent mindedly parroted that back on-camera when asked about it. She actually told Jimmy Fallon that the first time she saw the limes in the kitchen was on-camera; you see, she doesn't normally have limes in her house ever..... because she's allergic.

So yeah, it's just a cascade of glorious silliness.

Foos are in Australia through next week. Then they have a break for the holidays, then back to the Antipodes for a few shows in NZ before having the first five months of 2024 off.

If you're in the mood for that kind of a nostalgia trip, I recommend the documentary "Sound City" about the studio in Van Nuys of the same name where Nevermind - and an improbable number of other iconic albums - was recorded. (One of the people interviewed about the later years of the studio is a former coworker of mine; if I had known at the time she came to Capitol from Sound City she would have been my best friend. lol)

We just discovered that one of our local PBS affiliates puts a lot of their content on YouTube. They have a series called Artbound that chronicles the history of arts and culture in the Los Angeles area. We watched one of the episodes over the weekend that I thought some ITT might enjoy:

It's an hour long, but pretty interesting. The appeal of punk was entirely lost on me, but I still thought this was good. The Pat Smear cameos in some of the photos were amusing.

We're off to see Queens Of The Stone Age on Saturday at The Forum, with special guest Spiritualized. I have never heard of Spiritualized, what's their deal.

Always a good sign when you clarify who one act you've never heard of is by explaining that their main guy was part of another act you've never heard of.

Hey that's exactly how we discovered The Struts, who is one of my favorite bands now. If I can get a hit like that again, good for me. :fist:
