Star Wars discussion (SPOILERS INCLUDED)

Postby nocera » Thu Sep 28, 2023 1:23 pm

I wish I had read what order to watch what shows in, because I finished S03 of The Mandalorian the other day, and am in the middle of The Book of Boba Fett, which I clearly should have watched first given some scenes.

Are the other shows worth a watch? I was thinking of Ahsoka next.
You can stop Boba Fett and move onto Andor. If you’re watching Ahsoka, you should probably watch the cartoons first.

I'm enjoying Boba Fett and Ming Na-Wen, so I'll watch it through.

I don't know what that means, but I assume it's an insult, so now we are enemies.

For the avoidance of doubt: Ming Na-Wen is what makes the sauce so awesome. She's a great follow on social media, and Fennec Shand is a rad character.

Also, I have to say, I really do enjoy the music in these shows. I know there was a big piece on the dude responsible for the sounds in the Mandalorian, but Boba Fett also has great intro/background audio.

The same guy from Mando did the theme for BOBF. (Ludwig Goransson) The underscore music was composed by Joseph Shirley.

I know Robert Rodriguez directed the show, and he does a lot of his own music, but I don't know if he contributed anything for BOBF. There's a great clip of him playing guitar with The Child from the set of the episode of Mando Se 2 he directed, which is a hoot.

Hey all I said was he should watch the cartoons first. He’ll get way more out of Ahsoka that way, especially if he likes those kids shows. :slug:

But really, if NTP is actually enjoying Boba Fett, he’s a lost cause.

BOBF being awful has almost nothing to do with Star Wars. It's not bad because it's deficient in some measure of Star Wars Units or something. It's bad for basic structural reasons.

And I’d like to add, if you’re liking Boba Fett, you’ll love everything else. Go nuts. Clone Wars movie? Have at it. Caravan of Courage? Sure why not? Holiday Special? Let’s not get crazy here.

To be fair, there were a couple episodes of boba (Mando 2.5) that were good.

I had drafted a big old post with the complete timeline of known SW canon and their related shows, but deleted it before posting. It included the Holiday Special, because that s**t gave us Boba Fett.

The LEGO short form stuff is excellent, highly enjoyable non-canonical entertainment.

The animated stuff ranges from poor to inconsistent, to among the best stories in all of SW.
