Fantasy Football 2022

Post by Pavel Bure »

Just came here to whine.

Cam Akers - 4th round… oops. Have Henderson Jr as well

Aaron Rodgers - not super upset yet. Took him in the 8th but maybe the “experts” were right. Too early to panic.

I did get Cordarrelle in the 9th and took a flier on Drake London which both seem to be trending towards wins.

PPR league, starting lineup. I can only think better things are ahead.

QB: Rodgers
RB: Kamara
RB: Patterson, (LAR RB), Montgomery
WR: Deebo
WR: Pittman Jr.
TE: Hockenson
Flex: Cooks

You either play in a 6 team league or with people who don't watch football.

8 team. Auction dynasty league.

I've gone to a new philosophy in recent years. I looked back at my notes over the years (I used to watch a bunch of college football and NFL preseason) and see if I had any consistent ability to find young talent...the results were not mesmerizing. For every time I found rookie Brandon Marshall or Tyler Lockett for cheap because I had them as a top 3 WR in the draft class, I'd also have guys like Kevin White, Josh Doctson, etc. really high and miss. So, it wasn't worth the rookie investment where I was signing these guys for multiple years and all that kind of stuff...

So, because the NFL just turns over so much year to year...I decided to just sign one year deals. We have an option to keep players for double their value for the following year, so if I hit something decent, I can still retain it...Deebo was someone got for $4 as a rookie. Jakobi Meyers for $1. So, they're hold overs...but I'm not offering contacts to anyone, I'm just gonna go in with nearly 100% of my cap and roster space year over year. It's working and it looks like it'll work again this year based on that roster above...

Engram or Hockinson for TE this week? I’d usually play talent and go Hock (he’s also had 14 targets through two games) but he’s been wholly underwhelming and Engram seems to be more consistent in catches so far (12 targets through 2 games) probably a coin flip regardless.

Last night I had a ~20 point lead going into the game. I had Sanders and Goedert, he had Hurts and Smith. I'm leading until the Goedert fumble that shouldn't have been because of the facemask. Then the ridiculous roughing call ended any chance I had of getting the ball back for a normal two minute drive and I figured I was screwed. Enter Devanta Smith tossing it to no one in particular during the re-enactment of the Music City miracle and that fumble being credited to him winds up winning me the game. It was like watching my own little version of bad beats.

This team is 3-8 because I've taken on the most points by like 150.

So, I'm selling...

Traded Diggs and Etienne for Christian Kirk (who will count $0 against my cap in 2023, and can be kept for $2 in 2024) and AJ Dillon ($0 in 2023). And a condition that this person can re-sign Etienne, nor bid on him next draft.

Traded CMC for Devonta Smith ($0 against my cap in 2023), plus a condition that I can trade him James Robinson for Jonathan Taylor in the offseason, and he has to eat $25 out of $30 of Taylor's salary if I do that (which I will, unless he retires)

Traded Jakobi Meyers for JuJu Smith-Schuster a couple weeks ago.

That'll probably be my only moves. I can keep Deebo next year for cheap, Mike Williams next year for very cheap.

Next year I'll have...

QB:
WR: D.Smith $0
WR: Deebo $16
WR: Kirk $0
WR: JuJu $4
WR: M.Williams $8
RB: J.Taylor $5
RB: AJ Dillon $0
TE:
Flex:
D:

Basically, I should have my WR core and one of my RBs with $167 of cap space left over. Surely I can make an even better team and be a little luckier next year...

Traded Deebo Samuel for Joe Burrow $2, $4.

So...
QB: Burrow $2
WR: D.Smith $0
WR: Kirk $0
WR: JuJu $4
WR: M.Williams $8
RB: J.Taylor $5
RB: AJ Dillon $0

Starting QB, a starting RB, two starting WRs, $19 against the cap, and still a draft to go...oh boy.

Not starting a 2023 thread, just venting that Bass’s doinker made me lose in both of my leagues.
