I mean it is what it is. Everyone is so quick to judge without trying to understand context.Damn, I forgot about the dog incident. Not a great look, Weenie.
the thing is, the ordeal was emotionally taxing. It wasn’t an easy decision and I felt awful about it but it was the right one for me. I posted about it on here because this was before I really had any sense of emotional support (which I now get in spades through therapy) and I figured it’d help to get it off my chest. Then it turned into a lot of people who only had the context of what came through on an internet message board telling me I’m a bad person
it honestly sucked.
I’ve been on a long road of self-awareness since 2017, not prompted by the dog thing but by other **** (I was kind of in a depressive state). I’ve moved past it (while still confident that I made the right decision at the time) and I’m sure y’all still judge me for it but it is what it is
I never really talked about it but a couple years later I ended up taking a year long or so break on here as I was still in the early stages of therapy. The reason I left wasn’t the dog thing really at all, but in general I felt like y’all were merciless to me at times. Bullying/insecurity is something I’ve dealt with my entire life and at times this board can get a little mean so I needed to get away from it
I’m in a hell of a lot better place than I was pre-2020. It’s intriguing because with the emotional awareness I’ve been able to learn that I very likely have ADHD (my therapist was gonna give me the official diagnosis but she went on maternity leave so now I’m on a big time cliffhanger lol). So it’s been an interesting challenge to be confident in my weird-ass self, especially when I’m being told I’m a dipshit or something
it also gives me great perspective. It has really helped me learn how to be empathetic and understand others

lol see? no desire to try to empathize with me. Just judgement
It’s hard to not be snarky because I know it’s a defense mechanism of mine. But I hope y’all understand that you might not know everything that’s going on over a phone/laptop screen

I was joking, you ding dong. If memory serves I was in favor of you doing whatever was best for the dog and returning it was most likely the best thing for it.
I probably even shared a story about my wife and I returning a dog that had severe separation anxiety. The shelter found a way better home for it than what we could give him.
