Roster construction and goaltending seem to be the biggest issues here but these are some embarrassing losses for Sullivan. It would appear that he is somewhat untouchable but the recent postseason failures, inability to play complete games, collapses, late goals, losing series leads, lackluster showings, playing down to the competition, etc.. are certainly not a good look for a head coach.

Losing Petry and Rutta is much worse than the result. Also, stop trying to win Carter the Selke. He won't. Put him on Geno's wing or whatever if you insist on playing him.

Can't disagree with any of that.haven't there been 10 of those this season at least? These are losses that you look back on when you miss the playoffs.
beating boston 5-2 in the 3rd
all the the islanders games
up 4-0 v. det
for me, saying 'well, sometimes the better team loses' doesn't seem right
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I hate hoping for this - but I hope the team and Carter realize it's over, and he has an injury that has to LTIR him so we can trade his cap to the Coyotes. Carter wasn't good enough to be an everyday starter to begin with let alone get critical shifts in games you basically need to win. I really want to know what's going on behind the scenes, and who's convincing who to put him in the line-up every night.
The goalie situation is ****. I hope the new GM really has a plan to address that this summer, and I'm fine if both are gone, honestly. If Jarry has a chronic hip injury, it's likely not going to get better - and this is what it is now.
Also, Hextall should still be on the fire list, and that includes Burke as well. FSG if they care, need to in and completely clean house and re-do it top to bottom, and that includes looking at Sullivan as well.

I missed the game and my TV is thankful I did. LOL
I did read this morning that Sully said "We missed an opportunity tonight". Yeah ya think ?

It sure seems like the wrong game to overreact after.
GDT #67: Pens vs Canadiens
I don't see what the overreaction is. Goalies failed again, Carter out for critical moments even while posting a -4.
Change those two things and the problems likely fix themselves.

Responding to G: Yeah, for sure...but I do think it's valid to pile on 77 and goaltending...

Absolutely.

So what is it, fix these two things or clean house and re-do it top to bottom?Change those two things and the problems likely fix themselves.
GDT #67: Pens vs Canadiens
Well they can only fix one of those things now, by benching Carter. So what is it, fix these two things or clean house and re-do it top to bottom?Change those two things and the problems likely fix themselves.
The goalies, and the GM that got us in this situation have to wait until the end of the year. This game is just more data to back that up.
I don't see an overreaction.

Very easy (and imo, justified) to go insanely mad after giving up 2 points to a team that had gotten blasted at home 24 hours prior and was down 0-2 in the first 5 minutes. It sure seems like the wrong game to overreact after.
GDT #67: Pens vs Canadiens
Well, I'm super frustrated with the team and have been for weeks. I'm not sure what exactly their problem is (the obvious ones aside), but I've given up trying to figure it out.

We had the puck the whole damn game. I stand by my statement that this was more unlucky that anything
GDT #67: Pens vs Canadiens
Yes. They do get unlucky quite often though, it seems.
