Daughter scored her first goal in soccer last night (winter, indoor league). She was thrilled enough about it that it didn’t even matter that their team got hammered.

She will ride that high for a day or two. It’s awesome
mini-meow scored his 10th goal of their spring season today. All of them are either GTGs or GWGs. He’s about the only kid that plays defense full time, but when the game is close at the end, he has another gear that most of the other kids don’t have. He’s like that guy in men’s league that should probably be in a higher league, but doesn’t **** on everyone in the league he’s in. Next year will start a more serious travel league, so he won’t be head and shoulders above the competition

Just me and the boys today. Wife took the baby to girls day. They got dine in Chick-fil-A, hot wheels selection at target, haircuts, now some living room snacks for the pens game. These are the best days

Took my son for his quarterly trip to Dupont to see the audiologist/ENT. He's been in speech therapy twice a week and OT once a week going back to November, and was in speech prior to that. He had tubes put in late 2021, right after he turned 2.
His hearing seems off again, and I asked them to take a look at his adenoids, so we went downstairs for an X-Ray. Sure enough, adenoids have mild/moderate swelling (and pressing into something else), and his palatine tonsils are swollen too. I'm actually kind of relieved that we can point to a concrete thing that is curable, just feel bad for the little guy.

Went downstairs to empty the bin in our robovac only to find that one of the cat's stupid tiny mouse toys was stuck in the roller, and thus nothing was actually cleaned.Source of the post Run the sweeper

Doc ordered a chest xray to be safe and it's clear, so we're on to our fifth different antibiotic this year. I really feel for this dude. His poor stomach. You wouldn't even know he's sick though. Loading him up on Florastor probiotic as well to counteract it.

Hang in there big dog. Infants blow. I never understand the “cherish the newborn phase” psychos. My kid is almost 5 and I’m having a blast with her now. No way I’d take newborn phase over this.

Agreed. I actually loved that phase from about 8 months months leading into two years or so. But the newborn phase, while the snuggles are nice, is sheer chaos. More organized chaos the second time aroundHang in there big dog. Infants blow. I never understand the “cherish the newborn phase” psychos. My kid is almost 5 and I’m having a blast with her now. It gets way better but there are still grenade days. Like last night, where my 4 year old was up every 20 minutes asking to be tucked in, and saying his belly hurt. So I got about 2 solid hours of sleep. But that's every once in awhile, and not what you're experiencing.
Newborn phase is hard work. There are some awesome memories built there, but toddler phase is fantastic, imo.

Being a new dad with your first, the shock associated with a newborn is life altering. You questioned what you signed up for, not only do you feel helpless with the baby, you also feel helpless with your wife. Then you're like, what about my needs and feel absolutely terrible saying that out loud.
Enjoy SDD, they grow up so fast, cherish it!!

I think what's terrible to say out loud, is that I can certainly see how people resort to shaking a baby out of anger.Being a new dad with your first, the shock associated with a newborn is life altering. When you're dead tired, you'll do anything to make the crying stop, and I can totally see it. Awful thing to say - but no doubt there were nights where I was at the end of my rope mentally. Putting the baby down and walking away or asking for help is so clutch.
I just remember seeing all those videos and hearing all those people say that about it's OK to put the baby down and walk away. That's line one piece of advice I thought was jokey, but was I way wrong about that lol.

We would just swap in and out when our daughter refused to sleep, which was often. I'd spend hours literally rocking her, and the second I went to put her down, crying.

My son never did that with the exception of like the first week. That culture/life shock is something else lol.

I still have nightmares about the first 6 months. It was absolutely brutal trying to get her to sleep, especially in a crib. Then a year later we went through the phase of her making herself throw up to get us to come into her room and hold her. That was even worse. Went on for months until we just resorted to cleaning up the puke and immediately putting her back in her crib. She stopped doing it a week or two later, thankfully.
