The confirmation judging is for the birds. But Meet The Breeds? Agility? Herding demos? Good grief, you spend the day in a hockey arena full of awesome dogs.

The AKC national championship show used to be in Long Beach, which was literally the other side of the harbor bridges from our house in San Pedro. And the SF kennel club show was at the Cow Palace, which was (literally!) the other side of the hill at the end of our street.
And by literally, I mean figuratively. obv
Can't recommend dog shows enough. They are super fun, and probably quite kiddo friendly.

And to think that in some countries these dogs are eaten.

Biscuit Loveheading to Nashville in October for a ship's reunion. Going down a day early so I can scratch Bridgestone Arena off my list of NHL arenas, which would put me at 8.
Any recommendations as for local landmarks, restaurants, etc.?

Rather stay walking distance of AC Hotel by Marriott Charlotte City Center.I got you, TL. No car. Willing to Uber? What type of food you looking for?
There's a ton of places right there, don't need the best, just maybe like, "go here, not there". Probably be stupid long days at the office, so would just want to know which of those places would be good to just head over and eat as opposed to those needing some sort of reservation/dealing with rabble/etc

I was going to suggest a Guy Fieri restaurant as a joke but there isn't one. Must be all those bankers keeping the riff-raff out.

The bankers have some sway up there though - they lured the Johnson & Wales culinary arts campus from Charleston up to Charlotte a while ago. Basically, a big group of them got together and wrote them a big check.

Ok. So you want to stay north of Caldwell. South of there is a restaurant black hole. I'm not sure what has survived in EpiCenter, but I'd stay away from there. My favorite places within a few blocks of your hotel are MOA Korean BBQ and Que Onda Tacos. Both are great and you shouldn't need reservations. Hell I doubt either take them.Rather stay walking distance of AC Hotel by Marriott Charlotte City Center.I got you, TL. No car. Willing to Uber? What type of food you looking for?

Now. If you want a long walk / short Uber to the best damn place in the city, go to Pinky's on W. Morehead. Get a white trash burger and hushpuppies. I watched Pitt beat Clemson in 2016 there. The Rhino Market is across the street from Pinky's. Their food is awesome too. They also have a big selection of single beer bottle refrigerators to pick out of.

Much appreciated, will definitely try those close two first, and I get the urge to explore, that Pinky's place.

That was Moraine Lake. Water temp around 55-60 degrees.
One thing I forgot about here is elevation. Lake Louise area is 5400 feet. Moraine a bit higher. Explains why I was so worn out after hiking around there. Siri says I covered about 40 floors while at both places.

That is why I love hiking. It's good exercise, and you end up in places not many people see with beautiful views. Good photo OP.

The bus drops you off right there and it’s a short walk to the water’s edge. But if you want what I got, you gotta go up the rockpile, which is abunch of uneven stone steps as well as a dirt trail that laid straight is probably about 1000 yards but it winds and goes up over rough terrain. So you gotta earn that view. How far is the hike for that view? That was Moraine Lake. Water temp around 55-60 degrees.

Hanging out at Cherry Springs for the weekend. First time I've seen the Milky Way band. Also saw a meteorite shaded green burning through the atmosphere. Have a good view of Neptune and Saturn as well.

Did you spot Neptune through binocs or a telescope? Interestingly, in extremely dark skies and perfect conditions, Uranus is visible to the naked eye. Very dim though. I've never seen it.
