There were some red flags coming off his 2021 season in A+, mostly the high K rate. As an experience college bat-first prospect, he's supposed to hit in A+ (which he did for the most part), so while he didn't dominate, he did meet expectations to some degree. He did rake in the AFL last year, so that did lead to high expectations for his full AA season, and he's just not been good this year. He turns 24 next May, it will be disappointing if he's not contributing in the majors next year.

troy, you are smart. Gonzales could hit .450 next year and wouldn't get called up in time to contribute anything meaningfulThere were some red flags coming off his 2021 season in A+, mostly the high K rate. I'm down on Gonzales because the Pirates picked him and are trying to develop him. Recipe for failure.

I'd be curious to know if at any time anyone asked ONeil to consider swinging slightly less hard during 2 strike counts

He's not wrong. At all.
He should still be more professional though.

So the tying run comes to the plate in the form of "Kevin Padlo", he of 41 major league plate appearances who was for some reason batting 5th. He gets pinch hit for by none other than Josh van Meter.
Then to replace Reynolds in center, they make an 8 for 1 switch resulting in Ben gamel coming out of the game after a bases clearing double.
Allen enters the game in center
Chavis enters the game at first
Marcano moves from left to right
Cruz moves from short to left
Newman moves from 2nd to short
Castro moves from 3rd to 2nd
Van Meter stays in the game at 2nd
Banuelos enters the game to pitch
???

He's having a rough stretch. I'd just rather him work it out up here since the games are meaningless

Who wouldn't. But that's why i posted that shot of him and cruz. I've been watching them specifically since cruz is clearly looked up to by the rest of the AAA guys coming up. Multiple times I've seen those 2 joking around now so at least the club house seems ok. Reynolds didn't flip on that ump because he's sick of being here but because he desperately wanted to contribute and was screwed in the previous ab.Reynolds hates it here btw

I still have high expectations for Gonzales. But his peak is lowered by the k issues in AA at that age

He exudes apathy. His post-game clubhouse interview last night was really bad. And then he MFd Ben gamel on the field mid-game the other day.Who wouldn't. I didn't see either of those. Bummer, but I'm not surprised if he's miserable
