Any recs for an outdoor theater setup? Not looking to spend a ton (less than $1500 ideally). Would also be nice if it was an all-in-one package if possible but willing to piece it out if that makes the most sense. Doesn't need to be top of the line (that'll be saved for the dedicated basement theater). Just something that we could chill and watch a movie or football outdoors with the extended family.

Something that stays outside or you can setup when needed?

So the items found while cleaning for our remodel include my Zune. Works and sounds great, just most of the music on it is only accessible by Zune Pass, which hasn't existed in 10 years or so.

I have three models of Zune(s). They were always a little behind iPods, but were finally catching up with the Zune HD...but then smartphones happened (and Windows Phone).

Something that can be setup each time. I looked at the inflatable screens but it seems too big for the space and the constant fan would be annoying. But I’m open to whatever would work best.Something that stays outside or you can setup when needed?

Haha, when I junked my Celica a few years ago part of the clean out haul was my Sansa and its 75 songs. lol

I had an iRiver and liked it a ton. Wore it everywhere. I had it in an arm strap case and was surf fishing. Sent a cast out past the waves and heard a second soft splash. Damn thing flew out and died instantly.

I have the 32 GB Zune HD. They are listed at around $180 on eBay. Whether they are actually selling for that is another story…..I have three models of Zune(s). They were always a little behind iPods, but were finally catching up with the Zune HD...but then smartphones happened (and Windows Phone).

RE: Outdoor theater
This is the projector that I got for outdoor use. It's been pretty good so far.
For our screen I framed some furring strips and wrapped it in blackout cloth. I put some carabiners on it and hang it outside when we use it. Most of the time it hangs in some hooks in our garage.

This **** about to burst. My original 2019 D23 3 year offer is set to expire in November. The ad supported/non-ad price increase is Dec 8th. Disney knows what it's doing. It might be time to look at bundling... Because if there's one thing we all loved about cable TV, it's ads and being forced to bundle to save some money.

ESPN+ also increased to $10/month so I killed that.

Big jump for D+ without ads. **** ads, that's why I went the TiVo route.

It looks like the premium bundle price for Hulu & D+ will be $19.99. No reason not to bundle I guess.

Verizon is giving us the Disney bundle gratis, because of my new phone plan. I wonder how long that will last?

Anyone have any experience with up firing Dolby Atmos enabled speakers ? My ceiling in my home theater is just under 7ft and from reading I'm seeing speakers in the ceiling for this height may not be ideal as they aren't as immersive and you can hear exactly where the sound is coming from. Current setup is 7.1, not sure if it makes sense to move to 5.1.4 with the upward firing speakers. I wasn't concerned about it a few years back, but Atmos is pretty much everywhere now. Thoughts?

I have upfiring Atmos speakers, and while they do work, they'll never be as good as using speakers placed in the correct location. I spent hours listening to test tracks to determine the best angle for them. They're budget friendly, though, which may sway you to give them a try. Thanks, I figured it wouldn't be as good. I may benefit from them more with the ceiling so low. I blew a speaker over the weekend and they have these klipsch r-625fa with the built in Atmos speaker for $500 a pair and I'm really temptedI have upfiring Atmos speakers, and while they do work, they'll never be as good as using speakers placed in the correct location. I would definitely have preferred to have them built in like those ones are, personally. I just didn't want to replace my front speakers, as they are decent.

You 5.1.4 or 7.1.4? Current AVR won't allow me to go 7.1.4, so I'm trying to decide if I should stay 7.1 or lose two in the sides and go to 5.1.4 up top?I would definitely have preferred to have them built in like those ones are, personally. Didn't even think to see if my receiver would handle that. It's capable of 5.1.4, so I'd think I could do 7.1.2 as well, but who knows. Thanks

Does your receiver have a microphone and setup program to figure out the balance, etc.? The built in program on my Yamaha did a fantastic job with that.
