Recorded in 1981? The "nine millimeter Browning" mentioned in the song is almost certainly a Browning/FN P-35 Hi-Power, which today would be considered awfully big and bulky for a carry gun. Before the 80s, the two semi-auto pistols that were relatively common in the US were the Hi-Power and the Colt 1911, with maybe a smattering of Walthers, Lugers, and early Gen 1 S&W semi autos thrown in, but for most people it was either the Colt in .45 or the Browning in 9mm.
