That said if they're that intent on platooning Chavis at 1st, use Madris and get rid of those two asholes.
Lost season - should be getting maximal reps for Madris, Mitchell, cruz

Well jeez, they owe yoshi $1.5M ish the rest of the year. Worth dumping his limp ass and letting Youngs get reps

I'm actually surprised they didn't move Newman. He's been serviceable. And he's not a long term guy here.. so while he's one of the few competent players at the moment, he's in the way of Marcano/Bae

Same with Gamel. Why do we still have him? Whats the point

Newman I get because it doesn't seem like they're interested in giving Bae any time this year (obv I don't agree) so I get having that body there
Gamel though... he's just in the way of Mitchell and suwinski

The treatment of Bae is very confusing.

I think he's hurt right now. At least I think I read a tweet that said so. So at least that would make sense, but he should have been up a while ago imoThe treatment of Bae is very confusing.

Glad they kept bednar.
Quintana and vogelbach, both offseason signings, netted potential long term bullpen pieces that are basically major league ready.
Bednar wasn’t going to net a stud prospect, and they really don’t need volume prospect deals.
Reynolds, they seem intent on holding until they get what they want. Might even just be the best thing to hold him till his FA year, again, maximizing prospect return would be great, but they already have too many prospects. They need to quickly move to the place where they are trading prospects for major league guys because they are going to start getting plundered in the rule V draft.

Was thinking about this yesterday. I feel like they've been "stocking" up on prospects forever, but they can never utilize those players to get anything for the major league level, or even try really.Glad they kept bednar.

During the good years, NH always clung to his best prospects and liked to just pick up random-ass players at the deadline. Be curious to see what happened to the prospects they traded away for guys like Byrd, Morneau, Happ, Ramirez, etc. But, he was also pretty vocal about there being no "window", so the idea was to be like the rays I guess and hope that graduating guys like Bell, Taillon, Glasnow and Meadows would extend the competitive window....but we all saw how that ended up. And I'd say the gist of that is, it's hard to graduate prospects when you are trying to win. I mean, imagine trying to let Cruz work this **** out during a pennant race?

I looked each of those trades up and the answer is some version of nothing. Robbie Grossman was included in the Wandy trade and he's still in the league and has had a respectable career. What did they expect from Yoshi these past few months? Dude was trash the entire time, and they force fed him at bats.

he was good last year and they signed him. seemed smart. he stunk this year and went out with injury right when his performance couldn't be excused anymore. he blamed the injury. he came back healthy and hit like .440 in AAA for a few games so it was fair to believe. but in the majors he stunk again until it couldn't be excused anymore but by then it was just a week or so to the deadline so give him a last shot since they're so bad. there was always a chance he'd get in a groove and start performing like last year.
