Oh, I would love to be at the top of the range, but I don't expect to be there. It would be a huge jump in salary, and I don't know that I have the qualifications to justify that much. I know what my friend there makes, and I have a stronger background than she does, so if I came in around her salary I would still be thrilled.
Just finished the job application, my first since 2013. Feels weird, but also good.

Two week (really five week) notice has been communicated to my manager. I really don't relish leaving him or my current team, but look forward to telling everyone else and their stupid requests to find someone else.

Five week notice? They should treat you like royalty until you're gone.

I'm nice like that. I'll also be on vacation for two of them.

Yeah. The old "this sounds great and I appreciate your interest and I'd love to be there but also I'm really happy where I am so it would take the top end to make it worth leaving what I have"

I really don't like answering the salary requirement question from recruiters. It's always awkward to me.

Yes. And their response is either "You want how much??" or "Really, that's all?" On the rare occasion they say something like "That's within the range of salary they are looking for" you start wondering if it's really below what they are looking for and you just cornered yourself into a bad deal.I really don't like answering the salary requirement question from recruiters. Pretty much this. I’m in a unique spot where the director approving the position - including salary - is my old boss. I texted him with my thoughts, and he told me to roll with what I was looking for. So, we’ll see how it all works out. Still feels weird to talk about salary to others, even though I know there’s a movement to make that more open.Yes. And their response is either "You want how much??" or "Really, that's all?" Lol, just caught a guy skipping a handwash after dropping a dook. He paused for a second after walking past me and then turned back to use the sink for the briefest rinse I've ever seen. That's someones hand that I will never shake.

Moving meetings from conference/meeting rooms to virtual meetings is awesome. I'm on a call at the moment that started at 10. I had about 4-5 minutes of what I needed to present and could do so while I was on a walk. Got a 2.5 mile walk in and participated in the meeting at the same time. Love it.

We don't have a license for Teams on Android yet. Looking forward to that. At least WebEx works on my mobile.

You should try yelling "WASH YOUR F**KING HANDS, [NAME]" the next time you pass them in the hall. This is why I always use the paper towel I dried my hands with to open the door.Lol, just caught a guy skipping a handwash after dropping a dook. There's two cubicles within 15 feet. I can't open this door without terrorizing them. They don't deserve it.

Put some raw meat into the curtain rods of an adjacent office. In a few days no one will remember your toot.

Everything alright, tif? That's twice in one day you've suggested office terrorism.

The definition of terrorism is entirely dependent on which side of the boom you're on.

Also, while I consider the latter example much more passive-aggressive blame shifting, the former is simply calling a jerk our for their jerkiness. I would hope that doesn't meet anyone's idea of 'terrorism'.

I would not be able to work in this environment:

Seems like most here are still working from home?More than two years into the pandemic, American corporate workplaces have splintered. Some are nearly as full as they were before Covid-19 struck; others sit abandoned, printers switched off and Keurig cups collecting dust. Workers in America’s midsize and small cities have returned to the office in far greater numbers than those in the biggest U.S. cities. Some executives in large cities are hoping they’ll catch up, though they’ve been impeded by safety and health concerns about mass transit commutes, as well as competitive job markets where employees are more likely to call the shots.
