My daughter and I went to Hershey Park today. Had a great time, mainly due to strategy.
As soon as we got there at park open, we beelined for the back of the park. We were able to ride Jolly Rancher Remix, Storm Runner, and Fahrenheit twice, with no wait. Hung out at the water park for a few hours (again, much less busy at noon vs 300) and then hit up several more coasters on the way out of the park while everyone was further back.
Proud of my 8 year old, she was very game for anything... Although the first photo from Storm Runner is priceless Easy $15.

My favorite photo from the 1,000 we took at Disney was the one of me and my 4 year old on the Haunted Mansion.

We just got back from a 10 day vacation. My 20 month old easily 100x'd his vocabulary. Pretty cool to watch that happen so fast in real time like that.
And 2 weeks from now his world will be fkn rocked

My oldest went away to sleep over camp yesterday. My wife and I have gone on trips where grandparents watch the kids, but we haven’t sent any kid away to sleep somewhere without us.
Didn’t think I’d have any issues, but it’s a little rough. I can even tell his little brother is a bit out of sorts missing his best friend and roommate.
I’m really glad he gets to do this though. He was super excited and gets to bunk with his neighbor friend. I just know that in 16 years if/when my daughter leaves for college, I’m going to be a mess.

It's tough. My two oldest are in college and my youngest starts high school in September. It's going to be an uphill battle but I am trying to dedicate myself to enjoying everything and letting the crap that annoys me about things roll off my back more. With the boys there was always somewhere else we needed to be, dividing and conquering. Totally not fair, especially to the middle child, but it is what it is. Already feeling myself getting annoyed with the soccer coach, who's an acquaintance of mine, trying to swallow it though. My oldest went away to sleep over camp yesterday. I just want to enjoy these last four years having a kid at home because when it's gone, it's gone. I do look forward to some things about being empty nesters, being able to travel wherever, whenever especially, but that's later.

When does it click? I have a 3 year old and a 7 month old and I look forward almost everyday to being empty nest again, lol.

So as SOP of baby mac being born with a cleft palate, UPMC Childrens suggested we do in depth genetic testing to rule out a genetic disorder of 22q being the cause. Everything came back fine, except for "a very very small patch of DNA that is very similar". I was like. Oh okay so no big deal. She proceeds to tell me that there is a ~1% chance that my wife and I are related lol. So now I get to think about this for the rest of my life

My nieces and nephew invited me to jump on the trampoline with them yesterday. First off...that is a workout, and secondly....I messed up my shoulder pretty bad trying to do flips that I really shouldn't have tried to do haha.

It doesn’t click. Kids are always going to annoy you at times, but seeing them grow up and learn and experience the same things as you…it’s a pretty cool experience and well worth itWhen does it click? I'm dreading the newborn stage lol. I can't wait until she's like 6 or 8 months. Whatever the age is where they can sit up and I can set them down and walk away for a minute.
My 1.5 yr old is great but a **** load of work. It's bith fun and annoying, plus he wants to copy every single thing my 4.5 yr old wants.
My 4.5 yr old on the other hand has definitely graduated from little kid to regular kid

When that Darius Rucker "It Won't Be Like This for Long" song starts to resonate with you, it's my best estimate of a click time, I guess. It doesn’t click. Started feeling that way last night with my almost 3.5 year old. We talk about this frequently, but I get randomly very sad when thinking my son won't be a small toddler forever, etc.

My daughter is 8 and my son is 2, and I am already feeling the inexorable march of time as they get older. I notice I have been wanting to do solo outings with my daughter a lot more lately.

We did something similar at Stage AE last week. She wanted to be in the front row (or as close as possible). I said, OK, the entrances are all on one side of the stage. As soon as we get in, we go along the back and up the opposite side, and get as close as we can.My daughter and I went to Hershey Park today. Had a great time, mainly due to strategy.

We started in line halfway around the venue and there was plenty of room in the front row when we got to the other side.
Sometimes grown ups are helpful for these things.

My daughter started her first day of college today. Saturday, she moved into the dorm. Its super tough for me. Of course there were moments that weren't all that great, but overall, I totally enjoyed being her parent and watching her grow up. She has brought so much meaning to our lives, and yeah, she's only 2 hours away at school, but the whole vibe is different now. My wife and I are going to have a rough go at it over the next few weeks getting used to the new normal.
My son, 2 years older, is also in college, but is commuting from home, so he's still around. But, its not the same. He's missing his sister too. It all happened so fast. My babies were little and now they are grown and really don't need me much in just a few short years. Uggh. Enjoy them while you can.

My oldest is 12. It seems impossible that she's that old, and to think that in just half the time she's been in my life she'll be out on her own creates a large dust storm near my eyes.

Just hung outside with my daughter for a half hour catching lightning bugs, giving them funny names, and watching them fly away. Then we played with the neighborhood bat and tossed the ball in the air and watched him dive for it.
Getting to do stuff I did as a kid as a 39 year old is awesome

Hey, good news from the Colby throne.
Our little girl arrived yesterday. 7 pounds 13 oz, she literally looks like a baby doll.
Fun times as a family of 5.
