I always think hitting a guy whose engaged with another player, be it someone on the back check is also something that probably enhances the dangerous factor of a hit. Its like cut blocking a defensive lineman whose currently being blocked.

Yeah, I still don't think that hit is super, super vicious...it's a little on the tough side, but I think they got it right at a minor...hopefully Rakell is ok...

He's not in front of the goal too often.Shower thought:
When was the last time Malkin had a tip-in goal?
Feels like that doesn't happen all too often.

I have no idea, dude’s just weird. There’s video of him being drafted and while everyone erupts in cheering, he still basically just stands there like that.
GDT: Pens vs Rangers, Gm 1
Wait that's actually him?

Don't worry, he's not crazy like other Steeler WRs from the past

So long as he makes plays and isn’t a distraction, I don’t even care.

Didn't he hurt his head in a car crash recently? Maybe that's why he is wearing that.

Yep. It's a big win if he can catch better than most of the current receivers. So long as he makes plays and isn’t a distraction, I don’t even care.

not just the contact to the head but he's 7 inches in the air too

Well, just because he's in the air doesn't mean that he jumped to make the contact. Sometimes when you hit someone, especially someone shorter than you, you come up off the ice due to that contact...

Unless it's Ovechkin, then you can rest assured that he was in the air at the point of contact.

Watch the replay. He's skating backwards going for the hip check, jumps right into itWell, just because he's in the air doesn't mean that he jumped to make the contact. Sometimes when you hit someone, especially someone shorter than you, you come up off the ice due to that contact...
And it wasn't like Rakell was skating with his head down. He saw it coming from a mile away and still got popped.

I mean, I'm sure everyone else has already dusted this crime scene for prints and semen...but it just doesn't seem like he "jumps right into it"
Here's the contact. His skates are firmly on the ice still.
He makes contact with Rakell and as part of that weight transfer to your front foot and that leading shoulder, plus Rakell's lower set positioning, the collision just kind of air-bags him up in the air...I mean, their hips get locked up as Rakell is going down and Lindgren is going up, so that's probably gonna propel anyone upward on contact.
I don't know, it's a hard hit. If you want to say it's too high for you and there's a little too much upward explosion into it, I can kinda see that...if you don't like hitting, this one isn't for you for sure...but I don't know this whole, he karate kicked his pumpkin off theory is a little tough to find...
I think a lot of folks get caught up in the after-gesticulations of a hit...you're not an offensive linemen in pass protect when you throw a hit like this, you're not some NBA nimby who stands flat-footed in the paint to try to taste some ball sack...this hit is an aggressive move to repel someone backwards, otherwise, they run you down...
I pulled this clip as I recalled it being a game saver, but even Pett Pett takes a more aggressive stance than I recalled...even so this is "taking a hit", it's way different than delivering a hit. There's a big follow through to delivering a hit.
I don't know, like I said, I think there's some mistaking aftermath with actual events...but I also could see if someone said, "hey, that's a little high for me...the fact that it's this close to the head area or it's this close to being an elbow makes it bad..." I'm just not sure that I can get there on this hit in particular...

I don't think it's too too bad. It's the head area resulting in injury COMBINED with the lateness. Felt like a defenseless receiver thing

The lateness is huge. It's completely unnecessary for the play. The only intent can be to inflict damage.
