So the second team has a decided advantage making everything four down territory or going for two.King Colby wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 7:04 pmI meant each team gets 1 possession guaranteed. KC scores TD, bills score TD. Bills go for 2 knowing there's no **** chance they're stopping KC from kicking a game winning FG on their next possession.MR25 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 6:06 pm Yeah, just treat it like you would if a team kicked a field goal instead of scoring a TD. Other team gets a shot to match or exceed the output. Not sure at this point if forcing a 2 pt conversion after the 2nd score (assuming first team scores a TD) is the better call or letting them tie it and then make it sudden death.
Basically you don't need even # of possessions after the first one because the 2nd team has (A) a chance to go for 2 if they want or (B) 2 chances to make a stop

Hearing Rodgers question the election and rolling with the 75% of deaths had 4 comorbidities were really *chef’s kiss*.

Yeah. My autocorrect is weirdly aggressive with names. Like, it will change one name to another like that.
Does it with Jarry to Harry, too.

Football is far from my favorite sport, so I don't have much of a dog in this hunt, but it strikes me that a game where there is a very clear divide between offense and defense (to the point where for decades each of those have had entirely different players) and clear differences in possession between the two should have an overtime format where each team gets the opportunity to play both offense and defense. The current overtime rules strike me as something akin to saying that if a baseball game goes to extra innings but the visiting team hits a home run in the top of the 10th inning, then the game is over immediately and there's no opportunity for the home team to bat.

It's even more dumb than that, Shyster. It's more like the team in the top of the 10th hits a solo HR...other team still gets a chance. They hit a 3 run HR in the top of the 10th...game over.Shyster wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 12:30 am Football is far from my favorite sport, so I don't have much of a dog in this hunt, but it strikes me that a game where there is a very clear divide between offense and defense (to the point where for decades each of those have had entirely different players) and clear differences in possession between the two should have an overtime format where each team gets the opportunity to play both offense and defense. As others have said, current rules are fine for regular season. Limit time, number of plays, etc. Playoffs, though? Come on, man.

I almost posted the same thing as Shyster yesterday, but realized that geno's added hint of NFL stupidity needed to be added in. So instead of MIMH posting, I deleted it.

49ers gonna beat the Rams this weekend. I'm more confident in that then I was in them beating the Packers last weekend.

I don't get the weird disdain for the home team Superb Owl.
If you host the game at a League facility, it's gonna happen. Part of the reason they went so long without it happening before last year was they used college venues every few years; one of them was at Stanford stadium, and the 49ers won it, which was more of a 'home game' than their actual home games are now.

IIRC, it's open on the sides to catch a seabreeze. Or forest fire-driven winds or something like that.
