That's what coming at it with fresh eyes and years of hype does. I'll stand by it. Remove the VO and everything improves significantly.

Does anyone want me to do the Die Hard thing again as sort of a board/thread hard reset?

Just watched Shawshank for first time in years. It was outstanding and the 4k is terrific.

lol, this movie definitely doesn't take advantage of 4k. You were high, my man.

I'm obviously not going to change anybody's mind but just try to imagine that movie without the VO and tell me it's not a better film immediately. On its own, it's a decent movie. Hyped as one of the best ever made and it's overrated and disappointing.

Wait a sec, don't you pirate your movies? Does HDR even come through on those? Aren't they also compressed?

The 4k of Shawshank is great. It absolutely takes advantage of the format. Details/clarity and colors are great. It's shot on film, its not supposed to be a clean digital picture. It's a pretty big upgrade over the standard blu-ray IMO.

It was beautifully shot. I'll say that for Shawshank.

I'm not going to entertain taking the VO out of Shawshank because now you're going from X amount of Morgan Freeman time to X-Y Morgan Freeman time. If you want to make the movie better, the formula is X+Y Morgan Freeman time.

If you want to hear Morgan Freeman narrate something, watch March of the Penguins. At least that VO improves the movie. Shawshank’s VO tells us how to feel rather than trusting the movie to show us. It’s superfluous.

4k 10-bit HDR + Atmos always comes through. Just need to find high quality seeds.

I really enjoyed Dune. Never watched the original or read the books. Yep not knew the meme. When it was over I had a reaction of wanting more instantly. Hope the next one continues in this same fashion.

Scream 2022 was good. Felt like a bunch of fan service but it was enjoyable.

Edit for the right year lol.

Shame they didn't release simultaneously to streaming. I have no desire to go to a movie theater right now.

I meant to say 2022 not 2020. In any event understand not wanting to go to theaters. Def check it out when it hits streaming though worth a watch.

The Irish are the Blacks of Europe. Dubliners are the Blacks of Ireland, and the Northside Dubliners are the Blacks of Dublin. So say it once and say it loud: I'm Black and I'm proud!

The original David Lynch version is......... awful. It's weird in many of the ways you expect from Lynch, but does not deliver the storytelling quality. It feels like a movie that nobody on the creative side of things ever reached agreement on, well, anything.

You had me at David Lynch. Not my style at all.
