He transferred to Vermont after two at BU. He was a junior and Jarred was a freshman. I'd be interested in knowing how he skirted the transfer suspension.

What a game... lots of fun. It was their 3rd annual teddy bear toss. All the stuffed animals thrown on the ice during the 2nd intermission are donated to children with cancer in hospitals in the area. Had to be over 1000 stuffed animals tossed out there.

As far as the game, well, the team scoring average while I'm in attendance took a hit from 8 down to 7.33. PSU was just a level above MSU the whole night. Things got pretty scrappy as the refs just let everything go and when MSU got down big they started throwing cheap shots. PSU held their cool until a minute left in the game. I didn't see what happened but a guy got a 5 min major and game misconduct. Overall, this is a very very fun team to watch. Fast and skilled. Comin for you Bobby Mo in that Three Rivers tourney.

It would have been cool to follow a college hockey team from inception to relevance. Its really a shame that the opportunity to do that was with PSU.

So close to not watching this video, but I'm glad I did. That would have been really cool to see live.

Glad to see actual donations go to the kids as opposed to some charities that only give a very small percentage to the actual cause

Yeah, if you watch in the lower left corner of the rink, there's some kids attempting to throw a giant pink puppy over the glass. That's where my wife and I were sitting. The pink puppy was hers that she let the kids try to throw.

PSU won't participate in Three Rivers Classic next year.

I am not happy with this decision at all. I also won't disagree with anyone that makes the case that PSU is scared of playing RMU. RMU is the better program right now, and any matchup will most likely end with a RMU victory. Hopefully the matchup returns once PSU builds the program up to RMU's level.

What a moronic decision that will help fuel my continued unconditional UPS hate for all eternity. There's no logical reason to abandon an in-state rivalry that benefits both programs. May you burn in hell.

I just skimmed the article, but I didn't see a reason why they're backing out. Very odd indeed as a ton of people (especially at PSU) look forward to that game. I'm not so sure it's that they're scared of rmu. That's just ridiculous.

That is the only reason i can come up with. It seems beyond stupid for them to pull from that game.

Don't know anything about the financials of the tourney (PSU might feel they're not getting enough of a cut), not sure what they're looking to schedule and replace that game if they're going to at all, there are plenty of other possible reasons. Being scared is beyond stupid.

It is a defacto home game for RMU even if there is a large PSU contingent there. PSU has to travel for it and I'm sure that is more costly than scheduling a home game instead. Maybe RMU can play at PSU if they want to keep the rivalry going next year.

I don't either. It's a chance to go see them play, I won't drive 3-1/2 hours specifically to go to a hockey (or basketball) game. Although ironically I'm usually in Central PA between Christmas and New Year's anyway.

The #1 ranked Friars are playing in a tournament in Florida this week. They get #9 Cornell then #4 BC or OSU. That's a pretty strong field apart from OSU. Could easily see their first loss coming in this tourney.

Yeah. They couldnt even start competing with nationally relevant teams in 4 years. They should probably give up.

Penn State has a history of pussying out of rivalry scenarios. Can't take the heat, I guess.

RMU is so dominant in the region that PU is afraid to start a real team.
