The #7 Friars began defense of their title by heading to Oxford, Ohio and crushing the #11 Miami RedskinsHawks 7-3 on Friday. They then followed that up with a 2-2 tie on Saturday. Good start!

I'll mostly be talking PSU hockey (suck it Bobby Mo fans), but feel free to discuss any college hockey.

Went to the game last night against AIC. Here are some highlights:

Go to the 1:08 mark to see a pretty fun goal. The place was rocking, especially with PSU winning big. They play Michigan in New York at Madison Square Garden toward the end of January. The wife and I are gonna try to snag tickets and head up for it. Should be fun.

AIC is not very good. It'd be a disappointing weekend if they didn't get the sweep.

Somehow we (OSU) scored 4 on Providence and made it a close one (but still lost).

AIC has contemplated dropping down to D-III, but their current league has cheap travel, so they decided to just be non-competitive and save money.

They were really bad. Their top line defenders were 5'7" and 5'9". I thought they were peewee players out there.

PSU vs Michigan at Madison Square Garden on Jan 30th. My wife and I are definitely going. Tickets are on sale now, but I'm going to wait a bit as I just want to go to the hockey game. They are playing a Basketball game at noon that day and they're packaging the tickets together. Might check online to see if people are selling just hockey game tickets.

Haven't had much time this season to pay attention, but last weekend RMU split a two game series with #10 Michigan in Ann Arbor. On Friday they gave up a 3-1 lead and lost 5-3, but turned it around on Saturday and won 4-0. Now ranked #20 in the country and sits at #18 in the Pairwise Rankings.

Suck it Penn State.

Every time I go to a PSU hockey game, they score 8 goals. I should go to some Pens games soon.

Top ranked Friars and #11 BU play an unusual home and home tie sweep in their rematch series over the weekend. Guess they were/are closely matched.

PSU ranked!!! And they'll likely lose to Vermont this weekend and get swept by MSU the weekend after just for good measure.

Vermont looks pretty bad this season, State can handle them.

I predict they beat Vermont and split w MSU

Oh I agree. They've just gotten ranked in the past and then flop the weekend after. I'm sure they'll take care of Vermont. And I wouldn't be shocked if they sweep or split with MSU considering it's at home, and MSU isn't very good so far this year.

I'd be more concerned with Vermont than with MSU. MSU is terrible on the road. The Privitera brothers are playing really well for Vermont right now.

Alexx goes to Vermont? I thought he ended up going to BU...? He was a talented player from my neck of the woods a few years back, a lot of hype...
