Game Center, Center Ice, etc.

A big issue I've had with Directv is losing signal during heavy rain. It doesn't happen too often, but it happened during the Pens game against Florida recently.
I lost the HD signal for a few minutes but not very long. during that time I just switched to the SD signal. when I had cable (admittedly over 15 years ago) it used to go out for absolutely no reason at all.

NHL.tv folks, still trying to see if you can pause/ffwd/start late.
Yes.
Literally the first post after your question. :slug:
Well that could be a game changer, then. I'll have to give it a trial this year and then look into my situation next year. Thanks. :thumb:
They usually do a late-season special where you can get the final month or whatever for like $20.

I've been a DTV customer since the 90s, and I can count on three fingers the number of times I've lost signal for more than a moment. I know some people that have had weather related drop outs like you're describing, but I've been very lucky, I guess.

Didn't recognize that as an answer from you, too short.

To be fair, I accidentally deleted the other six paragraphs before posting.

Yeah, right now you can get the rest of the year for $29.99. I think it's $19.99 for single team.

But no playoffs, right? Because they're all on national broadcasts...

That depends on which country they think you are streaming from. ;)

Oh yeah, I guess that makes sense. You use a VPN or what have you on this thing (Euro I presume) and it gives you a national feed...American (NBCSN) or Canadian (Sportsnet family)? Or can you choose? I've never used the system with a VPN...

unblock-us reroutes your NHL.tv traffic through Canada, so you actually see Canadian commercials on Canadian broadcasts (instead of the placeholder).

I would definitely try different services during the playoffs, including the Hola plugin for Chrome, before taking the plunge.
This is my first season with streaming, no cable. I've been able to watch the "national" games, but have some fear that it will fart out in the playoffs.

I don't know what his new name is here (and he seems to have disappeared?), but Del Pen was the real expert on all of this.

I do use Hola to watch TSN and what not, so I am pretty familiar with that.

I cut the cord about a year ago or so. Unsure if I want to invest my money in NHL.tv or in Directv...my building doesn't get FiOS or I would consider that and Comcast is not up to par.

I believe it's @cadams who was the artist formerly known as Delpen. I wish we could sticky the alias thread, although it's probably not very helpful at this point.

And penny lane was a tilde aficionado.

tildes don't seem to work here.

Really enjoying how well the Hola plugin works for the national games. No more Slovenian malware sites to catch a horrible feed.

related but unrelated...

this year, DirecTV's baseball package includes MLB.TV... noticed that MLB.TV autorenewed on me on 2/28/16. Wonder if it's worth my while to get a refund from MLB to then subscribe via DirecTV, or if I can con DirecTV to give me the baseball package considering I'm already paid for the MLBTV part?

(And now that I know they autorenewed, might as well watch today's ST game)

Some of you might be interested that there is a new method of streaming. HD + multiple feeds. Dude on reddit figured it out. His app launches games in VLC.

I used to do this for the 24Hrs of Le Mans to get the commercial free feed.

Is there still a delay on the NHL.tv streams?

Other than the price, this is my biggest problem with their service. If I'm getting NHL app updates on scores before I see them as I'm watching the game, you need to figure **** out

Yup. You're generally about 30-1:30 behind.
