Expansion Draft Game - The Draft Has Begun...or die!

Game time again in NPR...from the poster that brought you the Penguins All-Time Draft (2012) and the Dispersal Draft (2014) comes the Expansion Draft Game.

Here's the deal. The 2015-16 season begins with a sudden expansion. Four clubs: Seattle, Quebec, Las Vegas and Houston. The NHL has instituted an expansion draft based on the previous iterations, original clubs will be able to protect X number of players (those details will follow) from the poaching expansion clubs. The original clubs will not have carte blanche to make all of their transactions like a full-on GM game (too much upkeep), the focus is to remain on the expansion clubs and the interactions with them.

So, provided there is interest, what we'll need is...

- Four GMs for each of the four expansion clubs. Your role is to build a club from the ground up, participate in the expansion draft, sign free agents and make trades as needed to make your team competitive. One thing that you won't get is the 2015 entry draft unfortunately.
- Four GMs to maintain each division of original clubs (if there's more interest, we can split these teams up further as needed, but like I said, outside of protecting players and maybe signing a few free agents/evaluating trade proposals, there won't be a ton to do)
- Two agents (one representing players currently in the Campbell Conference, one representing players currently in the Wales Conference) - I will be the Campbell Conference representative for the players, I can negotiate deals and just generally do agent things...so I'll need one, possibly two more of them...I believe meow wants this slot, as he's going to be co-commishing this thing with me I do believe...

I'll be honest, it's more of an exercise than an actual competition. I don't foresee an end game necessarily as expansion teams rarely compete in their first year...but we'll squawk about it as we go on and hopefully have some fun with it...

So more information will come out as necessary...so stake your claim in the game if you're so inclined...

Hmm, the logistics of this are highly questionable...but the NHL was in Atlanta twice, so...I'll allow it if that's an actual request...

Les Alexander has a legal block on an NHL team being in Houston unless he owns it...so that was unrealistic anyhow...

Meanwhile...

Iceland has direct flights to Halifax (close to Quebec), NY, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Edmonton, St. Paul, Orlando (close to Tampa), Seattle, Toronto and Vancouver. That will cover enough of the NHL. Five and a half hour flight to New York, so a lot of long road trips ahead...
