What would the compensation have been in regards to round?
Would have been a 3rd round pick.

Considering how few drafts picks we have, I dont agree with not taking compensation. A third rounder (despite our scouting) isnt something we should just not accept.

Meh, they probably just wanted Shero off the books and to not hold him back...I think a lot of teams will waive their right to compensation for fired personnel...of course, there's the Chiarelli thing in Edmonton, but I think that will be more of an exception than the rule...

I don't think the pick thing is a big deal.

It would make more sense had Shero stepped down or walked away or something like that, but we fired his ass. Asking for a pick would come across as pedantic and dickish.

"Hey, we didn't like this guy and got rid of him, but you have to pay us to hire him..."

It doesn't sound that good when you put it like that.

Yeah, the pick would've been nice, especially for a team with a tendency to trade picks away. But, it would've set a precedent that might turn around a bite the Penguins in the arse later on.
