Clips one and three happen all the time. I have no issue with them. Two looks purposeful. Seeing two look purposeful makes one and three look purposeful.

How common is it for goalies to push off from inside the net rather than the post?

Like the first clip? Those tend to happen in all out scrambles. When guys are flopping around and you’re trying to get back into position

Plus, you don't want to be kicking the **** out of the post itself with your blade anyway, right? You want to try to use your toe/bottom of your pad to help aid in that if you can't dig your blade into the ice, and I guess if you're particularly weak at that, you would cheat and use the inside of the net...? I guess I've turned the question more towards beer leaguers at that point, guys that can't get their skates done every commercial break...

Plus Matt Murray is a clunky, non-athlete so this checks out

I wanted the post to land between the end of my blade and the bottom of my pad. Basically onto the toe of my skate. Some dudes actually put their blade on the posts. Those guys also tend to sharpen their skates once every US presidency. Using the inside of the net is not a thing I am aware of. The netting gives so it’s not great to rely on it.

Yeah, I guess I was thinking maybe the base of the net...but yeah, I had a goalie who used to run his blades against the post on purpose to dull them out or some ****...I didn't bother asking him any follow up questions...

As opposed to getting them cut at 1" or more like the old days...

There was a rash of Pittsburgh area goalies going 3/8 or even 1/4 on their blades due to some false report that Fleury did that. Or maybe it was a Shane Clifford thing. I don't remember I just remember it taking like 37 minutes to cut goal skates at 1/4

1/4?? Is that even possible??

Goalies should only be allowed to use 5/8 or 1/2. Anyone trying to do something else should be jailed.

In HS I had my skates sharpened before a game (mistake 1) and didn't specify the cut (mistake 2). Half the time I couldn't even complete one shuffle they were so damn sharp. Thankfully we were playing a scrub team so I only had to face like 4 shots, but man was that the most unpleasant experience.
