At COL-VGK right now, we got on the Jumbotron w me wearing a Foo Fighters holiday sweater. Hockey really is the best.

First VGK game was last year, actually, but yeah. They do the fan experience like no other. Before the puck drop they play the music from the club scene in John Wick at 105 dB with 15,000 Watts of subwoofers throughout, and there are showgirls. It is everything that is simultaneously amazing and cartoonish about this town.

But it's great seeing how popular the team is and what a hold they have over the city. In-laws have a VGK license plate, FIL just got a co-branded VGK/USMC hoodie, and he loaned me his hat to wear. The team leans into the Vegas Born thing pretty hard, so it will be interesting to see how the transplant Raiders fare.

maybe I'm overly optimistic but I feel like the Raiders won't be nearly as beloved (proportionally) compared to the Knights

the Raiders suck and have always sucked. They have a QB who wears mascara and a shithead for a coach. Add in the fact that they've moved more places than Trump has ex-wives

of course, it's the NFL which will naturally have a larger following but with the Knights it felt so organic. With the Raiders it feels artificial

The VGK are Vegas'. It's hard to remember for those of us who fly in, stay on the strip, win or lose and leave, but there are people who live there- since I've been going there for work for the past 5 years I've gotten to know a lot of locals and they love it. VGK stuff is everywhere from the Strip to Summerlin. Making the FInal in their first year didn't hurt of course.

The Raiders are California's and will primarily just bring even more people over from California for football weekends. Just MHO of course.
