The fact that four officials on the ice missed something so obvious is downright embarrassing. The fact that Toronto can’t call down to the ice and overturn their stupidity is even more embarrassing.

Not only that, but Meier got an assist on the goal.

If the purpose of having any instant replay review is to get every call right, why do we have handfuls of plays that can’t be reviewed? Either go full-on or don’t have it at all. This wasn’t a judgment call like a penalty.

I typically root for chaos, but boy howdy...

This is why I was against replay. Either have zero replay or go all in. This dipping your toe in stuff is for the birds. Just give the coaches a challenge flag and let them throw it for almost any reason

well, 4 officials aren't all watching the same spot. different officials have different areas of responsibility in this situation but yes, how this is missed I do not understand. no question the Blues got boned on this one.

Just watched the replay.

Good job refs.

Refs/NHL should be embarrassed.

Sharks are definitely taking advantage of the blown calls, and shouldn't have to apologize. This is all on the NHL/refs (all the blown calls).

At the rate refs are blowing calls, is there even going to be a group that can ref the Finals without a big question mark over their heads?

So replay is allowed for an offside call on a player leaving the ice and having nothing to do with the play, but not on a hand pass leading to a game winning OT goal. In the Conference final.

Got it.

Agree this isn't on the Sharks but gotta say their benefitting from three calls (or non calls) now has me rooting against them.

Every goal should be reviewed. Have someone in Toronto take the 20 seconds to quickly review, make sure it's good, then continue. There wouldn't be a delay unless the official spots something off. At which point, a full review should take place.

All goals are reviewable.

The issue is, hand passes currently aren't. Even if a replay shows it.

Well that's also stupid. If we're out here enhancing footage to determine if the toe of a skate is a millimeter offside, we should also be able to review blatant **** like a hand pass.

It all sounds easy until you have to write it into a rulebook...

Okay new idea: make hand passes legal.

It is legal in the defensive zone, but the trend is that that will go away in time...the wave is crashing against that notion...

I also don't support additional hand passing...you don't want to promote pucks and sticks and hands going up in the air...

That was a joke. If everything is legal, there's no reason to review it.

Coaches can challenge offsides and goalie interference. Sometimes writing it into a rulebook simply means adding another line item like “hand pass”

That is my problem with the whole thing. You might not be able to review something, but you have the tech to see that something is wrong and the response was "well it's technically can't be challenged." But you can see something is wrong. Have Toronto fix it. Or **** it, continue to look incompetent.

I was originally indifferent to this conference final, but the Sharks have been benefited a little too much from bad calls. I want them to make the Cup Final. I want it to go seven games. Let it go triple overtime and have an obvious Cup winning goal from Joe get called back because a player was considered offside while going to the bench. And for the icing on the cake, have the Bruins score the Cup winning goal on a play that a result of a hand pass in the offensive zone.

There doesn't seem to have been as many controversial calls/non calls in the Eastern Conference games.
