Plant/grow
This.

It will be interesting to see how the league handles this, since they basically gave Wilson a pass last week for almost the exact same hit.

Shoulder to shoulder--little late, but should have just been a two minute interference. RIGHT CAPS FANS?!

Also, Wilson's helmet was clearly not fastened properly--it should never go flying off like that.

The hit was 0.51 seconds after the pass, apparently. That is most definitely not late by league standards. Maybe don't admire your pass, schmuck.

This is a hit, if it were Wilson throwing it, that people here would be asking for a suspension for.

Take the who out of the equation, and it's a dumb hit.

Taking the who out of the equation, it's a blindside late hit on a guy admiring his pass. No elbow, no head contact, nothing over the top, just late and blindside. It should be a penalty, and it was.

Putting the who into the equation: plant/grow.

If Tom Wilson makes that hit, it's about the 159th hit like that he's made. The league really screwed up letting him get away with no warnings or anything for the first few years of his career... then they slapped him with "well he's not a repeat offender" tag for the first few incidents... by then it was too late and then he quickly became a repeat offender.

This didn't even garner a fine or suspension - just another cheap shot that doesn't show on the record of Tom Wilson because the NHL liked the good old Canadian boy just playing tough hockey.

The Reaves hit isn't really late and doesn't make direct contact with the head. Tom Wilson hits have been both late and made direct head contact. I think a penalty here is warranted, but thats it.

I miss Reaves :(

That hit was a shoulder-to-shoulder, though a bit late?

Stylistic replay of Wilson's hit on Seney on Friday.

People here also said that Wilson should've deserved some discipline for his hit on Marchessault in the SCF. This hit isn't all that different, again, removing the who from the situation.

The NHL feels that anything after 0.5 or 0.6 seconds is "late"...for whatever it's worth...

The question for me is - if this hit is done by a first time offender versus a repeat offender ... what's the verdict?

I mean if Reaves hasn't been suspended since 2016... is this hit just a fine?

If Tom Wilson throws this hit but was just suspended 2 weeks previous... what is it then?

Wilson didn't get anything, not even a call, for his hit on Seney on Friday. Reaves should get the same for this. Very similar hits.

Wilson and Reaves got the same punishment, 5 and the game.

Something that I just thought of, that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere, but not sure if it has been... Supposedly all the Cap players love Wilson, yet no Capital on the ice went after Reaves at all. Even as a mock charge. Nothing. Super-Captain Ovechkin just raised his arms. Way to stick up for your guy...

Yeah that ^

Plus, wasn't he tossed immediately after...

Plus, that's not really how it works, just because you don't get someone right there (when they were probably trailing and needed the major power play), doesn't mean you aren't gonna get him...

Plus, he was out there with one of the weakest players in the league in Christian Djoos, young Madison Bowey, Nicklas Backstrom and Alexander Ovechkin...not one of them is gonna say "boo" about it...

It was a good shot from Sprong, but that's not necessarily a high-percentage scoring area.
