According to this, Toronto was the worst taxation of the lot. $ didn't matter, he wanted to play in Toronto.

Toronto fans on HF boards think they have the best center depth now. Good times, good times.

Was watching the Dangle video on JT and he said it was indeed structured that way so he will have salary during a lockout.
I'm kind of surprised it's allowed. Like it makes total sense but would have thought there would be some kind of percentage cap on those.
I would only imagine that it will be addressed at the next CBA.

I don't think that's going to be much of an issue actually...I think both sides like the respective flexibility options that provides...

He really must be tired of playing in Stanley Cup Finals. When it comes to free agency in any sport, I can’t ever figure out why someone would want to sign with a bad team unless they were their hometown team or the dollars were just too astronomical to say no to. An NFL player going to Cincy or Detroit, a MLB player going to the Padres, etc. Signing with Calgary won’t really get Neal’s name on the Cup.

Right. He took a pay cut to play to play for a bad team. And on top of that, that bad team is located in Calgary. Nothing about that makes sense.

Well, at least now he's no longer the dirtiest player on his team.

Yeah, they got him at below market value (IMO). I'm guessing it's the opportunity to play on a top line with Gaudreau, and maybe he wants to be in an out-of-the-way market like Calgary.

Neal is coming to a close pretty soon...his skating, while never great, is really deteriorating, he's getting beat up...he's got a lot of miles on him with deep playoff forays...this is a buyout after year 3 probably...the money is fine, pretty indifferent there...but that term isn't gonna hold up...

Neal took his last shot to cash in...the Flames are pretty good shape to take off if they can get some good coaching and goaltending...I think they got the coach even...

While the dollar amounts have not been ridiculous so far, the terms have been. Fourth line guys getting more than two years is weird

That doesn’t sound right at all. Are you sure it’s not a 3 month AHL tryout?

Oh Jesus. They signed Gibbons to a 1 year, 1 mil, 1 way deal. Maybe they actually did sign Rowney for three years.

Gibbons earned his first ever one-way, to be fair.

But three years on Rowney. I mean, that's a real fringe player there...

Isles sign Kuhnackl to a one year deal. Good luck to him, he played very well in his role here.

How does Rowney get 3 years and Kuhnhackl only gets 1? Say what you want but Tom is the better player at the end of the day.

Rowney’s deal is for $3.45MM over three years. I can only assume Kuhnhackl’s one year deal pays him at least $2MM or he should fire his agent and hire Rowney’s.
